Ireland nearly convinced me that they had the England 2003 destined to do it vibe.

England had to go through the 91 world cup final trauma and the Grand Slam near misses in the run up to 2003 to finally become the team that could win it in Australia. Ireland will use this pain to win their next quarter final, no doubt. Whenever that may be.

It's hardly Bin's fault that Jaco pulled his calf in the QFs and couldn't take charge of the ABs - Pumas SF to determine who the Boks meet next. Things could've turned out very differently.

The swivel eyes in my post was directed at the author of the post I quoted.
The Saffers should be thanking Bin, with a nice watch or something of the like.

It will be at least another 4 years until Australia have a chance to win another RWC. Which will be 28 years since their last one. So 4 more years than the ABs went between 1987 and 2011. Suck on that, George Gregan.

It only counts if you expect to win it.

As expected Barnsey gets the final with 3rd/4th referee delayed to see if Jaco is fit for it

Really pleased for Barnes.

A bit confused why Luke Pearce has had so little involvement in the KO stage of the tournament though.

With Barnsey, Karl Dickson and Matthew Carley will be assistant referees, with Tom Foley named television match official.

Australia's Nic Berry will be the referee for the third-place play-off between England and Argentina on Friday.

He has fallen off a bit. Spent the latter part of the Prem trying very hard to be quick rather than correct and then having to spend a bunch of time on TMO reviews. That said, he's still better than many of the refs being utilised, not least the other English refs assisting Barnes in the final.

What's everyone's thoughts. In my opinion not a great World Cup. Far too many un memorable games and mismatches. There has been a few exciting games but these have been close games rather than quality games. As far as I can recall there has probably been less than half a dozen quality games. I include Scotland very much in my criticism as they barely fired a shot.
Hats off to South Africa for the win.

And he was a sub in nearly every game. His strike rate per minute played is off the charts!!

That rip in the final was a match winner. He and Fourie both play from the bench and 15 poaches between them.

Ja but that was to keep Watson out the Bok side. Nowadays he play two in tandem for the Bulls.
