Rowe was very good and well worth his place on the Scotland tour before a year long injury put him out of commission

Smith is definitely in contention for a place in the world cup 23
Smith is good but he is a fullback for me. Rowe is good but he has already broken through and is already 25. Henry I hope I’m wrong about, and I hope I’m wrong generally and there are loads of great international level wingers just waiting to break through.

I'm with you on this one. I'd expect a potential international level winger to be identifiable reasonably early in their career because they should have outstanding pace or footwork. The likes of Henry might just end up as a decent pro, which is fine for Edinburgh/him and probably results in a Scotland cap due to the paucity of options rather than outstanding ability.

He certainly looked quick for the 7s so hopefully he has the ability to do something for embra.

Twitter seems sure it’s a 3 match ban for sexton, completely coincidentally meaning he misses the exact number of games before the WC starts. He’ll be available for all Ireland games including against us.

How amazingly convenient! If it had been a Scotland player, they’d have been banned for the exact number of games that would be enough to exclude them from the group stages entirely. Or perhaps just taken outside and shot.

This is from an RFU disciplinary site, I doubt it varies too much from World Rugby/EPCR regulations

9.28 A player must not verbally abuse a Match Official. Verbal abuse includes, but is not limited to, abuse based on: religion, colour, national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation.

Low-end: 6 weeks/matches

Mid-range:12 weeks/matches

Top-end: Max: 18+ weeks/matches 52 weeks/matches

However, the decisions that come out of these panels make it very difficult to conclude that there is any consistency.

It also looks like outcomes depend on who is up before the beak.

It seems Viaplay are in significant financial bother having expanded too fast. Subscriber numbers are poor and advertising is well short of expectations, presumably on the back of their subscriber numbers. If Viaplay goes down the pan then the URC might have a bit of a Prem moment, I don’t think the Welsh in particular can take another financial hit.

According to Wikipedia he got two caps in the AIs in 2021. Which, ironically, would mean he would be eligible for us again in just over a year, if they don’t cap him again in the interim.

I presume it will take a while to happen and they will seek a buyer for the platform - I can't imagine they will just cut the product off.

I wouldn't put it past them, but there will be something in the contract about the rights and whether they immediately revert to URC or if they have the right to try to sell them on.

Quote from Viaplay:

"(We will) exit in the form of disposal, partnering or winding down the businesses."

So either they sell the rights, they sub-contract the rights or they walk away. So basically they have no idea yet because those are literally all the options available!

Also just a one year contract, Steve Diamond is still in position and there is some chat about possible additional coaching hires during the season. Doesn't seem very settled yet.

Not sure what's going on in u20 - i have the stream on in the background and Scotland seemed to have scored and it was given but now it's not?

The winger (Jarvie?) just missed an absolute sitter too.

From what Embra have said in the press release it might mean a Director of Rugby being brought in too, Steve Diamond is to continue for a bit

"The club’s newly formed coaching structure will also see Steve Diamond continue as Lead Rugby Consultant during the pre-season programme, to allow for a period of support and transition as Everitt takes the reins in the Scottish capital."

I don't know enough about the guy but I always thought Sharks underperformed given the players they have, so maybe someone from there is not best placed to solve Embra's underperformance problem.

I did that around a ruck once decades ago. Celebrated with a screech and a fist in the air.
Can still hear the laughing from the opposition players and the crowd. My team mates didn't laugh.

Absolutely essential.

That game was all about Scotland, our mistakes kept it close int he first half, we dominated the second up to around the 72nd minuted, but our defence held out pretty well.

Afshar, Thomson & McLean went well in the backs, two locks were impressive, as was the hooker. Liam McConnell is a real workhorse.

He was gone after Sharks got whacked like 0-36 at home to Cardiff or such

String of poor results, no long term development of players under his watch, bringing in old journeymen of poor quality, hesitant exposure of youth, unable to deal with reintegration of national players when available and weak gameplans involving a lot of kicking when Sharks have some of the best backs around (albeit weak 10, but Everitt had long enough to try fix that, but stuck with an non-improving Bosch)
