President Biden and US politics catchall
How on earth do you take that from my post?Bokkom wrote: ↑Sun Oct 18, 2020 6:23 pmJesus, the fucken logic behind this statement.Rinkals wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2020 4:44 amIt's a "great post"?
When Ryan criticises Obama on policy and says that he wasn't respected, the implication is that President Trump is more skilled at policy and has the respect of foreign leaders like Putin and Xi, which I don't think is accurate.
It also seems bizarre to lay blame for the watering-down of ACA at Obama's door.
As to Michelle Obama's qualifications for the job, if Donald Trump has taught us one thing, it's that even a half-wit can still be President.
So you want to see another blithering idiot leading the Yanks for another four years?
I was addressing fonz's claim that Michelle Obama wasn't qualified to be President.
I'm not sure I would describe her as a "blithering idiot", but maybe you are referring to the photoshopped picture depicting her as an ape?
As far as I'm aware, she has a law degree.

Well, that is the counterclaim, that it's the Russians. Which is why Facebook and Twitter stopped it for a while. The accusation being that the Russians sent it to Guiliani who lapped it up.Plato’sCave wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 2:09 pmWhy? do you think they are part of some clandestine disinformation campaign?

When pressed on the issue of Russian misinformation the U.S. Director of National Intelligence Ratcliffe stated "There is no intelligence that supports that,"
Make of that what you will. I don’t know.

In the meantime, Trump keeps slipping in the polls, particularly the swing states
538 has Georgia now as a toss-up, with a marginal lean towards Biden. Overall they put Trump's chances as 12 in 100 - so by no means impossible, but heading towards very unlikely territory. Trump's trouble is that a lot of must win states for him are looking increasingly safe for Biden

Less a complaint more of an inadvertent self-own by going on about how ridiculous that WAP song was, cue umpteen people going "Ha, he's so shit in bed he's never made his wife wet". Probably not unjustifiably. He comes across as fairly puritanical in matters of the bedroom - missionary only, lights out and strictly on scheduled special occasions.Hal Jordan wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 3:21 pmIsn't he the plum who complained about being unable to pleasure his wife?

A good read. Particularly liked this bit:
But Professor Yan Xuetong, Dean of the Institute of International Relations at Beijing's Tsinghua University disagrees.
"If you ask me about where China's interests lie," he says, "the preference would be for Trump rather than Biden".
"Not because Trump will do less damage to China's interests than Biden, but because he definitely will damage the US more than Biden."

I doubt that there are many of America's enemies who wouldn't prefer Trump to remain President for another four years and hopefully more if he can swing it, possibly handing the baton on to Don Jnr and/or Ivanka.
Many are underestimating this...the orange shitgibbon will continue to fuck up the us whilst China whistles in the shadows and takes more control.Sinkers wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 5:08 am https://www.bbc.com/news/election-us-2020-54522988

She's a fucken idiot because she is best buddies with that war criminal George Bush and, notwithstanding a law degree, no experience in governing and/or law making.
I see no reference to her being called an ape. Only in your mind. Wind your neck in.

When I die, I want HUMBLE carved on the base of my statue.
To be perfectly honest, I found it difficult to understand why bokkom would be so convinced that MO was a "blithering idiot" given her law degree and I rather suspected that he'd fallen for some of the negative internet memes prevalent in the US during Obama's presidency.
I find it implausible that his opinion of her being stupid is drawn from her being friendly with Bush, but there you are.

I don't understand this notion that Biden should try & avoid the final debate, just because he's ahead, & hasn't anything to gain.
The Dems made a mistake by doing parallel, "town hall", debates; & to repeat that, for the 3rd debate would be madness.
If Biden hangs tough; the shitgibbon will either run away & bitch about being muted; or turn up, & behave just as appallingly
in this final debate. Either way, Biden wins !
If Biden sticks to the debate; he gets an uncontested podium, with tens of millions watching, & can point out the shitgibbon hating free speech, & this being a repeat of his history of running away !
In the unlikely event the shite ball turns up; he'll be the same cunt he always is, & he'll lose more voters.
Biden is on the cusp of winning Texas, & Florida; & if he pulls that off, he'll win in a landslide; & fuck the GOP right up !
He wants to use this debate to push those two States over the line for him; & to bring the DNC with him, in the Senate.

Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised to see him keel over and be helicoptered back to Walter Reed, what with the stress, divers experimental medication, virus and co-morbidity on his 74-year-old obese body.
What are the implications of the record early voting turnout?
My initial thought was that this augured well for a Biden win, but I saw a few pieces on the BBC yesterday that suggested that Trump supporters are turning out in droves due to their belief that mailed-in voting will be tampered with.
No, I am just fucken fed up with your asinine assumptions, constantly casting aspersions on your opponent's character and/or motive in most of your retorts. Even on cricket threads in the past fine English posters have pointed this out. Fuck you.Rinkals wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 8:21 pmTo be perfectly honest, I found it difficult to understand why bokkom would be so convinced that MO was a "blithering idiot" given her law degree and I rather suspected that he'd fallen for some of the negative internet memes prevalent in the US during Obama's presidency.

Negative internet memes? Fuck you twice.
The Obamas, Bushes, Clintons, Trump mobsters are all part of the USA's current crisis. What did Michelle's husband do right after he left the White House? Went on a speaking circuit and giving speeches to Wall Street robbers and fraudsters at the tune of 1000's of thousands of dollars. Now he's in his posh residence in Martha's Vineyard lecturing the so-called "left" in the US (bwahaha) to toe the party line, vote for the lesser evil and continue the good old tradition of screwing over the average Yank for the benefit of billionaires. By the way, did you know Obama dropped more bombs on brown people in far away locations than George Bush? He got a Nobel Peace Price for that.
But you still prefer to believe what you are told by CNN, MSNBC et al.
Oh, and have a nice day.
I dunno, I can see how Bokkom got there.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/world/americas/ ... -advantageHow Trump plowed through US$1 billion, losing his campaign's cash advantage
US President Donald Trump’s sprawling political operation has raised well over US$1 billion (NZ$1.5 billion) since he took the White House in 2017 – and set a lot of it on fire.
Trump bought a US$10 million Super Bowl ad when he didn’t yet have a challenger. He tapped his political organisation to cover exorbitant legal fees related to his impeachment. Aides made flashy displays of their newfound wealth – including a fleet of luxury vehicles purchased by Brad Parscale, his former campaign manager.
Meanwhile, a web of limited liability companies hid more than US$356 million in spending from disclosure, records show.
Now, just two weeks out from the election, some campaign aides privately acknowledge they are facing difficult spending decisions at a time when Democratic nominee Joe Biden has flooded the airwaves with advertising. That has put Trump in the position of needing to do more of his signature rallies as a substitute during the coronavirus pandemic while relying on an unproven theory that he can turn out supporters who are infrequent voters at historic levels.
“They spent their money on unnecessary overhead, lifestyles-of-the-rich-and-famous activity by the campaign staff and vanity ads,” said Mike Murphy, a veteran Republican consultant who advised John McCain and Jeb Bush and is an outspoken Trump critic. “You could literally have 10 monkeys with flamethrowers go after the money, and they wouldn’t have burned through it as stupidly.”

Hmmmm....it would appear that trump is rallying in the polls. Florida, N Carolina and Georgia showing either ties or 1 point either way.
Seems like the trump silent majority is starting to come forward.
The crazy b*stards are going to vote him in again!

I don't know if there's much in the Chinese bank account story. Perhaps it's a bit embarrassing politically if he's paid more tax in China than in the USA, and there would be concerns if he's conducting business whilst in office, but this one could be much ado about not very much.
The bigger story would be if he didn’t have a Chinese account, given known business activities and FBAR Reporting requirements.
Mike Murphy has more on this in the latest edition of his podcast, Hacks on Tap. Always an entertaining listen.Ted. wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 10:09 am It's a good thing that he is a supreme businessman and an economic manager par excellence.

I read in one analysis that it is basically an election of bases rather than swing votes. It doesn't matter really what Trump does, they're still going to go out and vote for him.Thor Sedan wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 11:31 amHmmmm....it would appear that trump is rallying in the polls. I think though if there's a trend away from the polls it will favour Biden. 2016 nobody knew where Trump's votes would come from. Now they do know and will be accounted for (if the poll is even remotely correct). Biden I suspect is getting a surge of a chunk more Dem voters who'll get out and vote for him when they wouldn't for Hillary in counter reaction to Trump.
