Sources familiar with the incident, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told the Herald an incident took place during a training session at the school on Monday afternoon.
A Springboks team management official said the player, who has not been identified, walked away during training to an isolated location near trees “as it was unfortunately an urgent call of nature”.
“The player apologised to the school headmaster,” the official said.
Sources say the incident was witnessed by the school’s principal, Lance Raskall, and one other adult.
South African management was quickly alerted to the incident after a complaint was made. The tourists were told their behaviour was not appreciated given the school had been kind enough to let the reigning world champions use their facilities.
When contacted by the Herald on Wednesday afternoon, Raskall denied any incident had taken place relating to the South African team this week.
However, a spokesperson for the NSW Department of Education later confirmed an incident did occur at the school but stressed no students from Randwick Boys’ High witnessed the Springboks player urinating on the field.
The training session did not begin until school had finished on Monday, but the oval where the team trained could have been viewed by people on the street.
Following discussions, the Springboks were granted permission to continue training at the school, which they did on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The team has a day off on Thursday before their captain’s run on Friday ahead of their clash with the Wallabies.
Randwick Boys’ High has invited other rugby teams, including the Wallabies, to use their facilities in the past. Wallabies representatives Jack Maddocks, Tom Robertson, Tolu Latu and others visited the school in 2018.
Mate I not suggesting it fair on Perofeta, just saying it not unusual, I pretty disappointed for him, it's unfortunate fact of being a back up player. Talk to the likes of Marty Holah, Norm Hewitt etc who just sat on bench etc time and again. Thompson and McAlister are comfortably the next best hookers. I assume Thompson is young as he's been behind Taukei’aho and Slater at the Chiefs. Hopefully he'll get more game time next year. Bell has great promise, but needs lots more miles under his belt first. He's certainly getting that at the moment though with Canty's first two hookers out injured and Funnell not being fit enough to play more than 20 minutes or so.

It's a brand new stadium and that grass has just been laid I believe.
Mate looks a brilliant stadium, and realised it is new, just a shame grass maybe hasn't taken properly. Wasn't a criticism of stadium, Sydney (like a lot) have had a shit load of rain this year, so understand the problem.

Guy like all the Canterbury/Crusaders supporters is not use to losing, specially the lot in South Africa. I was a bit surprised to see him called up in the first place. He's had a solid season for the Bulls but he's hardly set the competition on fire.
He's 19 years old and technically our fifth choice of winger behind Kolbe, Nkosi, Arendse and Gelant. He's making a debut in a very disjointed team against an Australia team that took us apart last week.
Obviously I hope he has a great game and my fears are unfounded, but I fully expect Australia to target him.
