Looked like a team who needed a warm up game tbh - too many new faces who didn't play in any warm up games. How did we manage to win that against Dragons who were on top for all of the first half? They can only get better, surely?

Looking at the positives for Edinburgh:
- Healy seemed to settle well.
- Held them to 3 points for last 50-60min
- Won
- Bench had some impact.
- Scotland players who have had very little game time got minutes in their legs. Healy particularly has played very little rugby through the warm ups and RWC.

It was a good game. I thought Redpath was excellent. Finn's offload for the first Bath score was about as good as you'll see and I thought he generally played pretty well. But he also made some sloppy errors. Will be interesting to see if Bath keep going with playing a big lump at 12.

Bizzarely, I was fairly confident throughout the match. For once, it wasn't that they did not look like they knew how to win the match, just that their execution was somewhere between poor and terrible.

There were far too many new combinations and unfamiliar players exemplified by Scott at 15, where he has never played before. To me they looked like they'd be OK once they'd settled and stopped making so many mistakes. The fringes of th eplayer pool has certainly been strengthened by that game.

Glasgow showing some pretty decent skills so far, no points to show for it mind.

Good strong finish there.

Glasgow are getting stiffed, Kebble is so dominant at the scrum the ref is calling it against him, saying he is driving across. His hips don't move out at all.

At last he's seen what is actually happening in the scrum

Can’t bear to watch another Scottish team capitulation to Leinster. Because it’s almost certainly what’s going to happen. It’s the equivalent of Hearts v Celtic today (well, apart from Leinster being an actual real Irish team, that is)

It's the shock of seeing a game managing 10 at Edinburgh. Edinburgh were dire in the first half but Healy was at least making good decisions.

Agreed. I’m surprised and not a little delighted. As may have been clear from my previous poorly timed post, I fully expected them to lose.

OK, I’m sure it was a weakened Leinster side and a pretty strong Glasgow. But we keep getting told how alarmingly good Leinster’s reserves are, and the conveyor belt, and we’ve seen our teams beaten by second string Irish sides before, so I’ll take it.

Pretty decent way to spend a Sunday afternoon

Watching Glasgow beating Leinster ( albeit a Leinster shorn of a good number on first team players ) in a dry, but cold Scotstoun was vey satisfying.

Sure , a typical first season game, so plenty of stuff to work on

However ,as with all Franco’s teams, each player know their role, and the graft and effort were all there , even if some of the execution wasn’t.

It’s great watching some of the attacking rugby on display, The pop pass from the Sillerton loon that is Gregor Brown to Seba coming in at speed was pure classic Glasgow – reminiscent of Peter Horne/DTH, the timing and the speed make it a thing of beauty.

Probably the most pleasing was the defensive sets in both halves from Glasgow when Leinster were knocking on the door. I see Shuggie was awarded MOTM – and he certainly put in some defensive shift.

Great to see Horne Jnr get the 100 mark capping it with a fine try – nice also to see Franco acknowledging Scrappie’s performance.

(Nice to see the older warrior Sean Lamont in the crowd)

Onto Galway next , be interesting to see how Franco rotates the team for that one

Watching it on TV, it struck me that Glasgow were playing like a mid-season team already - lots of combinations working decently, good connections across the pitch, clarity about the game plan - and that with a number of players on the pitch who did not do the pre-season with the Warriors. Bodes well for the next few games, I think they're ahead of the curve. Although teams like Connacht will have been able to train with almost their entire team as they did not have massive numbers at the WC.

I can see the logic in that, however, given the last regular fixture this season is on the 1st of June ‘24, my preference would be to target the home games and a few winnable away ones in order to manage the players over such a long period

I agree. Edinburgh's role in the URC essentially is to increase the chances of a Glasgow home semi by taking points off of top-4 hopefuls. They are duty-bound to go all out against Leinster and can then muck about against their fellow no-hopers, as per the last decade or so.

Even in the last 2 years the improvement has been massive. It's a great day out to go and watch if you get the chance.

Several scrums, shunting Connacht back. Win a free kick, decide to scrum again. Connacht scrum disintegrates. Ref blows - penalty Connacht.

The ref also missed a really blatant deliberate knock on by Glasgow so we can't complain too much.

Glasgow really do seem to be doing everything they can to lose this game.

Don't know if just flow of game in second half since I started watching, but ref seems to be riding Weegies hard
