It's a good contest but much lower quality than I'd expected. Second half has improved at least.

Having to watch it with no sound probably affects my enjoyment of it.
Do I need to spell out the tongue in cheek posting?

Well done Toulouse. Far too much for us and blew us away in the end.
First lost at home since 2015 ?

Not at all. I was explaining why I wasn't really enjoying it, as that was the point of your tongue in cheek post...

Well done Newcastle, beat the mighty Ospreys away
"Mighty" Ospreys? can i have some of that crack you are smoking ;-) Not beating the Ospreys in Europe is seen as a considerable failure by Italian sides let alone anyone else.

Anyway Newcastle are pretty awful this season, any win is a good one

I am just enjoying the wailing and gnashing of teeth going on in the other place. Barnes must be public enemy nunber 1 on the Emerald Isle. What is it with Barnes and small insignificant islands?

Lyon open the scoring against Exeter. Got their offload game going early, then a bad missed tackle by Hepburn let them in

Exeter's mustard kit is shit. Teams should only wear change strips if there's a colour clash and Chief's regular black would be fine here.

Nice try for Lyon.

Such a dumb penalty to give away, especially from a lock who, with the best will in the world, is highly unlikely to be one of the first chasers to reach the ball.

Woodburn probably could have stepped inside and done that himself, but he let's his light bulb headed mate take the glory instead.

Cracking conversion from Simmonds, Chiefs ahead by a nudge.

I thought Woodburn was quicker than that, he seemed like he was wading through treacle

Yeah, he's more of a work horse than an out and out pace man, but I thought he was a bit quicker than he looked there. That said, the Sandy Park pitch has been grotty recently and pitch conditions can have a fairly profound impact on stuff like that. There was a game recently where Bassett looked like he was putting full effort in, but was travelling at about half his regular speed.

That's true, he's had a few.

Should be a yellow for that. Repeated hair pulls. Pathetic.

Nice, shifting the ball away from the ruck when the pick and go procession was expected.

Stroke of half time is a pretty good moment to go under the posts.

That penalty is everything that's wrong with the TMO, it was a nothing incident that was played up to the level of deserving the death penalty. If we're being literal about penalties then the Exeter player should've been given a red for contact with the head.

To be fair some of those hairstyles deserve the death penalty

About 23 infringements by both sides at that breakdown. Ref need to lose some weight. Makes lucy look slim.

Exeter had four tries before half time, don't think fitness has anything to do with it. Lyon just look like a side that fancies the razzle dazzle but not the hard work.

Chiocci binned for consistently driving straight across the scrum. Saved his scrum half a lecture, given he flung the ball into touch after the penalty was given.
