I remember the days when South Africans were considered by all to be steadfastly arrogant and unwaveringly confident. You lot are a disgrace to your nation. You're world champs for heavens sake - get behind your side!

My concerns for the Lions are Biggar and AWJ's fitness, the scrummaging of the props, the underwhelming Conan, and some defensive concerns in the backline. But it's a fairly beastly side and everyone picked has good reasons to be starting, with the exception of a couple of "best of a bad bunch" options.
Not sure exactly what the game plan will be - Daly and Price both getting the nod suggests we'll want some pace on the ball.
After this year's 6N, I didn't think Daly would get near the Lions, and here is starting a test. Fair play to him, he's put in the work and shown he's a much better player away from Eddie Jones.
Still, not the most exciting centre pairing I've ever seen.

Team as expected but I worry about Daly at centre, he is a bit of a revolving door in defence and has the poorest tackle record on tour. I reckon SA will target him with their big runners and suspect he will get caught out a few times - wingers and Hogg will have their work cut out covering the gaps he leaves. I would have preferred Harris to start and Daly on the bench but hey ho. Not surprised but disappointed about Curry getting nod over Watson, wrong call for me - I would have had Curry at 8 and Watson at 7. I think our 6 and 8 might be a bit slow to the breakdown to do any real damage and as a result we might struggle to turnover much ball. I suspect Jones might struggle a bit at LH and concede a few penalties at scrum time and again Sutherland might have been a better starting option with Jones coming on after 50-60mins. However it should be a good game and with Price chosen at 9 it looks like we are looking to play a faster, more expansive game than first thought?

There's plenty of other ways to do Haggis, I can't actually remember the last time I had it boiled. A haggis burger would be good on a braai.

Good BIL team. Pity they didn't select Farrell and Hill, would have looked forward to them getting cards.
I'm surprised they went with Duhan. Yes, he's scored tries, but looked pretty average against SA A.
Kwagga vs Conan will be interesting too.
Call me a fool but I enjoy watching Duhan in action. He is a beat of a winger.
Nothing foolish about that.

Steaks and kebabs hardly indigenous or unique to South Africa..anyway the Yanks (those from the south anyway) rule the roost when it comes to cooking meat with charcoal.
Quite often pick up biltong from the Saffa shop in London bridge but the Boerewors is a real disappointment - the meat used is too lean and the seasoning too flat.

I mash peas into my potato mash. Carve out a hole in the middle and pour my gravy lava inside. Looks like a volcano with grassy sides. And then I bust a wall and try to eat it before the gravy lava contaminates my other food.

From a Saffer pov I'm quite happy with guys like Biggar's lack of proper prep this tour.
He was on really good form and I bet he wanted to play more than he did before this weekend
Same goes for AWJ. Some players' lack of form is also great to see
And those on form, some haven't been properly tested in weeks
Some 'interesting' selections too - where is Adams? He's a killer finisher and was in great form
Im quite confident tbh
We are very familiar with each other and guys like Faf, PSDT and Am are good at spotting and closing gaps in our defence
Our lineouts will be much better with Bongi back
Scrums should be fine both halves, especially second
Backline will be more dangerous with Pollard back
My only concerns are cards and injuries
2-0 after this weekend

Bongi? He throw water melons.
The scrum with Trevor? Against the Lions he end up flat on the floor every scrum against the same opponent, Alwyns brother, Wyn Jones.
Our 1st phase was our
in the WC. This is my biggest worry for Saturday.
No gameplan can work without 1st phase.

2019 RWC, 90% success rate at lineout for all three hookers. That is 44 out of 49 successful lineouts between Bongi, Omm Schalk and Marx.
Just because the Stormers / WP forwards coach coached him to throw in kak, doesn't mean that with some decent coaching he can't regain his mojo.
