Very confused by the bench selection this week. Lood hasn’t played 80mins in months. If he or either of Etzebeth or Mostert go down (and both locks should really be blowing in the final quarter) our lineout is going to be very vulnerable. No lock cover on the bench is incredibly risky (dumb).

Thats what i have said before, i don't get that either. Only 3 potential locks in the 23, and all of them starting. It's risky. I would have gone for a 6-2 again with Elstadt or van Rensburg instead of Morne, or if 5-3 instead of kwagga

Is it no dickheads in the squad, or no dickheads in the XV?
Boet, we are going of track here. The main point here is why is Goosen not in the group? We all agree he has all the talent. What could be the issue? Let's get your take?
The example of Dan shows that the dickhead thing is maybe not the reason. He was with the squad, and came down with Covid, hence didnt feature in the preparation matches, hence was released. Now he is called back in for TRC. Nothing to do with dickhead.
Goosens main problem might be that he didnt really settle in any position over the last couple of years in Montpellier. I have seen him play at 10, 12, 13, 15. We have utility backs in Frans Steyn and Willemse. He was playing good rugby, no question. Now that he is with the bulls, it will be interesting to see where he slots in. It helps that he is back in SA and I hope he will be back with the boks, he is class. Like with the du Preez twins, I just don't think anyone of them being a dickhead is the reason.
Fair enough.

It’s such a radical departure from our RWC winning formula (2 locks on the bench). Hoping for some last minute mind games where Rassie reveals both PSdT and Duane will be starting

Goosen is an amazing rugby player, of that there's little doubt. The big question is, why haven't Rassie and Nienaber called him up? Is Goosen looking at the best interest of the team or is he only looking out for number 1?
What is Rassie’s #1 rule? No dickheads.
No Goosen. No JLDP.
But Dan is fine?
Dan is fine. Robert and JL are the wankers. Rassie knows best.

The Bokke have a long fixture list. They will have to rest players along the way.
Coetzee and Goosen will get their chance.

Interesting take on Duhan
https://www.rugbypass.com/news/why-duha ... the-lions/
He is 11 to 0 against the boks in the air.
4 to 0 against Willie
3 to 0 against Kolbe
2 to 0 against Pollard
1 to 0 against Wiese
1 to 0 against Kwagga
That is a remarkable achievement against a team that bases its attack on the kicking game

Can't believe that those stats are correct. He did knock a catch or 2 under pressure from what I can remember, so unless just getting your hand on the ball without completing the catch counts as a success.

Ball came back to the BILs if I can recall. From forced turnover or handling error forced by the challenge

To be fair the only real complaints that we as Bok supporters should have are:
Wiese, solid on defense but absolutely nothing else. There are 5 or 6 other 8's who offer more than him.
The ex good Junkies, very nervous and hell of a slow service .
The rest were all pretty damn good. I hope that PSDT is ok.
I see that RG Snyman has been sent back to Europe to rehabilitate.
Massive loss

Two areas which are long term work-ons for the Boks are the loose trio and our attacking play.
I would love to see a young no.8 like Buthelezi, Roos or Elrigh Louw go on the November tours. Jasper Wiese had a disappointing series. He's an honest toiler and has great physicality but very average rugby IQ. I love Kwagga Smith but he has a very definite ceiling and will never be world class. Its not enough to be an "yster". I also like the du Preez bros but they have similar limitations. Will tear it up at club level but we should be looking for another PSDT, Schalk or Duane and these guys are not it.
Would like to see another scrumhalf in the mix too. Reinach went OK but there is a fair gulf between Faf and Hershel/Reinach. Grant Williams is developing nicely at the Sharks. Hershel Jantjies needs a bit of competition as he seems to be a bit of a happy go lucky bloke and it will help him focus.
Pollard needs a back up. Thank you Morne for your service and Elton for your efforts. If Goosen is physically up to it and shows enough commitment he might be OK.
Fassi and Tyrone Green to bolster our outside backs for 2023. Its inconceivable that a 32 year old Rosco Specman took up a space in this squad at the expense of someone like Tyrone Green.
I fear we are going to get blitzed by the Blackness and maybe even the Wobs in the RC. I just hope we try a few new things on attack. We have some serious weapons in our backline and its time to let them loose. I wouldn't tinker too much with selections. Hopefully Duane,RG, PSDT can play.
November internationals I would add guys like Tyrone Green, Buthelezi/Roos/Louw, Dweba, Grant Williams to the mix.

Loved Grant's vision yesterday. Man he just looked so natural. A thinking scrumhalf...reminds me so much of Fourie Du Preez. Just makes good choices. Not close to ready for bok callup. Need to see some consistency. I was very disappointed in Reinach yesterday. But thinking back he did not rush things which eliminated errors.

He only makes mistakes. Everyone “got stuck in”. If he improves 200% he’ll still be a English Premiership journeyman. It’s mad he was even in the squad.

I’m not ashamed to say I was very, very wrong. He doesn’t have half of the rugby IQ Duane has, and didn’t see any of that ball carrying in the series. He was average at the only thing he was in the team for, and rather shit at everything else.

Few interesting things about Morne
He said the first kick, his foot hit the ground and the second one came half of his shin
ROG said last night Morne has a son thats already a deadly kicker at 10 years old
10 plus 12 years, he could play the Lions next tour lol

Indeed. It’s no secret that Rassie and Nienaber give the players a lot of homework to do. Analysis of opposition, referees, tactics etc. My suspicion is that Kwagga impressed them with some of the things he is able to read…particularly at the breakdown.
He’s not really been able to put all that theory into practice in big matches, but that’s the only reason I can see for him being in the mix.

That's all spot on. The coaches have mentioned that in an interview couple of weeks ago, his defensive reading is what he is selected for. I would also prefer someone who brings some momentum on attack as well.

Sards Sharks bias is hilarious, but he might actually have a point here. Kolisi himself said so, being on a diet and so on. It has payed off, he was outstanding in the last 2 tests. Best rugby he has played since 2015.

Yo, those were the best bokke, with Mostert the most valuable imho. He was in outstanding form and without him and his ability to cover PSdT's position in the 2nd and 3rd test we would have been in serious trouble.
