Clearly the only reason why Ireland are winning. Or your point being?

Nah.Pepyer is just a homer. Owens has a shamrock tattooed on his scrotum.

If you are Ireland, it's an admired choke tackle. If it's anyone else, it's a pen against for too high. We clear now?
It is noticeable how frequently they end up manipulating a played by his head/neck which is why I asked. Peyper will start giving Wales penalties now.
The reason they do it is to prevent the ball carrier trying to drop his knee (which, BTW, pisses me off: you should not be rewarded there for trying to go off your feet) but it's totally illegal.
The minute the arms wrap around the neck, it should be penalty against them.

Don't think he's suggesting that. Ire are good (albeit looking rusty today) and Wal are going downhill faster than Ken Read but that doesn't alter the fact that Pepyer has ridden the Welsh.

Hard to see Wales getting on the scoreboard at all tbh.

Ireland could get the bonus point here.
Which made me realize, you can win the Grand Slam and lose the tournament nowadays.
If the team that gets 5 wins only gets 4 points by win, and the one that get 4 wins manages 5 points per win, plus a losing BP in the game they lost, they win the tournament!

I enjoyed Shane pointing out how much of a niggly fucker he is.
What's the law on stripping the ball in the tackle? The welsh guy was on the floor when Porter ripped that.

There’s a bonus for getting the Grand Slam to avoid that happening

In theory, the minute the tackled player has a knee on the ground, you mush release.

I can't do that in my head. Don't you get an extra three points in the event of a GS to prevent that?

I guess you can still end up tied at 21 points. Does GS give you automatic victory then?

No, a genuine question. I don't know if there's any leeway given for timing.

Don't know how much is credit to Ireland's superiority and how much is just mediocrity on the Welsh part.
