That Waterloo gif is fab, all very ‘Time commanders’ - I have read about that battle but can’t recall much detail now, from that gif it does look like a lot of movement by team blue in the first phase and with the Boucher / iron duke team just soaking it up ? Absolutely negligible movement until the French broke ?

Only real British movement was the cavalry charge. Aim was to break the French on the ridge and hold until the Prussians arrived.Yeeb wrote: Fri Jun 18, 2021 10:18 am That Waterloo gif is fab, all very ‘Time commanders’ - I have read about that battle but can’t recall much detail now, from that gif it does look like a lot of movement by team blue in the first phase and with the Boucher / iron duke team just soaking it up ? Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot, But he'll remember with advantages, What feats he did that day
What's misunderstood is that Wellington thought Blucher would reinforce him much earlier and actually arrive at on the allied left flank. - if things had gone to plan it should have a far less dramatic allied victory.
However the Prussian CoS Gneisenau mistrusts Wellington (because Wellington had promised to support the Prussians at Ligny two days before but had not being able to) so ensures that the Prussians arrive late enough to be able to confirm Wellington is still fighting - also the roads taken mean the Prussians end up fighting effectively a separate battle against the French further to the South

A little Pre trench/cave clearing photo, because you weren't all going to come out the other side.
I talked to an air force recruiter yesterday at a career fair (just to chat, not interested). I was reminded of that interaction when I saw this because he was wearing woodland CADPAT camo with blue embroidered badges and a blue beret. To think pilots went to war in the 40s dressed smarter than some people do for job interviews today ...
