So NZ has 13 new cases, roughly equivalent to NSW and behind Queensland. It goes without saying they're in a much better position than Victoria.
I'm not sure that warrants the outpouring of outrage about the government's "incompetence" that I'm seeing on Facey.
Maybe I just have a lot more National and ACT party loyalist contacts than I thought.

372 New cases and 14 deaths in Victoria today.Jimmy Smallsteps wrote: Fri Aug 14, 2020 1:23 am So NZ has 13 new cases, roughly equivalent to NSW and behind Queensland. It goes without saying they're in a much better position than Victoria.

The worry is that this is just the beginning. What were Victoria's numbers 4 weeks ago?JPNZ wrote: Fri Aug 14, 2020 1:39 am372 New cases and 14 deaths in Victoria today.Jimmy Smallsteps wrote: Fri Aug 14, 2020 1:23 am So NZ has 13 new cases, roughly equivalent to NSW and behind Queensland. Yeah. The trend is downwards, but the day-to-day numbers are still jumping around a fair bit.JPNZ wrote: Fri Aug 14, 2020 1:39 am372 New cases and 14 deaths in Victoria today.Jimmy Smallsteps wrote: Fri Aug 14, 2020 1:23 am So NZ has 13 new cases, roughly equivalent to NSW and behind Queensland. I think it was unrealistic to expect NZ had "beaten" COVID, which is what both the media commentary and a lot of social media messaging was indicating.Monkey Magic wrote: Fri Aug 14, 2020 1:41 amThe worry is that this is just the beginning. Now you've had a second outbreak like pretty much everywhere else, people have gone apeshit.
Those reports and posts lecturing the rest of the world about how to be a stay at home world champ may not age well, eh Muttonbirds.
I think we have done bloody well to last this long. I have always been of the opinion that:
1) It will happen again - impossible to stop
2) The people on the front line are human and humans make mistakes
3) The people who make a mistake will not do so deliberately
4) The best thing to do is plan for the eventuality and move fast when it happens.

I drink and I forget things.
I'd come to the conclusion we were living in a fool's paradise anyway thinking we had eradicated it whilst it still raged on largely out of control all over the globe. We can't stay in complete isolation from the rest of the world forever and we can't afford to go into level 3 or 4 lockdown repeatedly every few months. We'll go broke at that rate.

This is a rough guess but perhaps because she's the Prime Minister?
Dan Andrews has been fronting every single presser here in Victoria too.

Calm down you card-carrying National Party wanker.Ramble on wrote: Fri Aug 14, 2020 5:38 am She is so utterly full of shit to avoid an election move it is beginning to get annoying
Yep totally unrelated. I know a person related to the case. Whilst I hope not this this horse appears to have bolted.Auckman wrote: Fri Aug 14, 2020 4:08 am If that guy in Auckland hospital (13th case today) turns out to be unrelated to the current cluster, it's squeaky bum time.
Unless other areas go into Level 3 then moving the election at this stage isn't necessary, the politicians can still go around the country to spout their BS except in Auckland and that may ease off in 12 days.Ramble on wrote: Fri Aug 14, 2020 5:38 am She is so utterly full of shit to avoid an election move it is beginning to get annoying

Seems the sensible route. I was hoping for another break if I'm being honest, been flat out since level 2 came into effect 4 months or whatever ago.
Level 3 isn't really that restrictive anyway.

Calm down mate. As explained later, monitoring (temp and symptom checks) combined with PPE is the pragmatic approach. There’s a lot of hysteria being pushed in NZ over this... there’s an election looming. Media needs to be filtered carefully.JPNZ wrote: Thu Aug 13, 2020 7:37 pmThis is absolutely dumbfounding! What on earth is this government thinking... Ive lost what very little faith I had in our ability to stop this virus when I read that. Not testing people who have contact with those in Quarantine is just ridiculous.Stumpy wrote: Thu Aug 13, 2020 9:14 am So then apparently nearly 2/3rds of Auckland's border isolation staff have never been tested.https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zeal ... k-ago.html
That is rather shocking and coupled with the various escapees kind of makes this reversion to lockdown look inevitable. Of cause the Pm has now committed to compulsory testing, this is good but also akin to shutting the door once the horse has bolted.![]()

I realise the last health minister was shite, but why was it not Chippy?
It is blatant electioneering and funny in pretending not to be
