Great game for the neutral, certainly helped obscure the memory of the spackerfest that took place in Cardiff yesterday.
Yes unlucky Jocks.

Italy beat Scotland in 2007 and 2008. Although we beat them at the RWC in between those two.Joost wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 6:51 pmAbsolutely, surely Italy have never notched back-to-back wins against any of the 6N teams - would be a massive step forward for them in their history if they can do itsefton wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 6:47 pmI’ll always support the underdog but in this case I’ll make an exception.Paddington Bear wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 12:29 pm

Tbh I think we will lose by a lot
No that was for the HIA.Slick wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 8:55 pm Prepared to be wrong on this, but watching the game at the club, did the French physio/doc manage to stop the game and insist the ref team look at the Gilchrist red?
It was a red, no doubt, but what the fuck was that all about? Almost a bit disappointed that Ritchie didn’t lose his shit with the ref about it, seemed an utterly outrageous intervention
It looked at the time that he stopped the game as he was insisting to the ref that Jelonch went off for a HIA after he joined the line out. Perhaps he was doing both?Slick wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 8:55 pm Prepared to be wrong on this, but watching the game at the club, did the French physio/doc manage to stop the game and insist the ref team look at the Gilchrist red?

I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt. He was clearly trying to get the player to go off but the guy refused to go. So he went and spoke to the ref. Good work from him imo.Tattie wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 8:59 pmIt looked at the time that he stopped the game as he was insisting to the ref that Jelonch went off for a HIA after he joined the line out. Yeah I thought so too. Still amazed that White didn’t have to go off for a HIA after getting a sledgehammer to the noggin.Biffer wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 9:06 pmI’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt. I think he was just insisting that Jelonch had to go for an HIA because Jelonch was refusing to go. At the same time a replay of the tackle was shown on the big screen in the stadium and it was that rather than the medic that the ref responded to.Tattie wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 8:59 pmIt looked at the time that he stopped the game as he was insisting to the ref that Jelonch went off for a HIA after he joined the line out. Nah. He was gesticulating an HIA to begin with but the player ignored him 3 times and joined the lineout. He then went and stood next to the ref to stop play starting whilst pointing to his head - he was playing for time and stopping play restarting so the head hit could be reviewed.laurent wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 8:58 pmNo that was for the HIA.Slick wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 8:55 pm Prepared to be wrong on this, but watching the game at the club, did the French physio/doc manage to stop the game and insist the ref team look at the Gilchrist red?

I don’t agree, I think it was deliberate to slow down play. The ref asked him to leave a couple of times and he stayed on the pitch to stop play startingLobby wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 9:09 pmI think he was just insisting that Jelonch had to go for an HIA because Jelonch was refusing to go. TBF the video ref should have picked it up and alerted the rev to it.
Player safety is paramount.Paddington Bear wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 9:22 pm The doctor said something to Jelonch who ignored him to take his position in the lineout, and in fairness he did ensure that he left the field for the HIA. Don’t disagree with any of that, but it wasn’t in his remit to stay on the pitch and stop play after the ref had told him to leavePaddington Bear wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 9:22 pm The doctor said something to Jelonch who ignored him to take his position in the lineout, and in fairness he did ensure that he left the field for the HIA. Well that’s a lovely sentiment if you are happy with doctors determining if play can carry on or not. He made his point, the player ignored him, the ref asked him to leave, and he refused. Where does that end?C69 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 9:24 pmPlayer safety is paramount.Paddington Bear wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 9:22 pm The doctor said something to Jelonch who ignored him to take his position in the lineout, and in fairness he did ensure that he left the field for the HIA. Medical staff should stop players playing if they fear the worst.
If you genuinely think that, perhaps you could explain how the medic was able to coordinate his request for Jelonch to leave the field with the tv director’s replay of the incident? Do you think the medics have a complex system of secret signals which are understood by the tv director, or perhaps you think they’ve got their own microphone link?Slick wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 9:11 pmI don’t agree, I think it was deliberate to slow down play. Or perhaps it was just a coincidence and the medic was doing his job in insisting that Jelonch had an HIA.
No he didn’t. He asked the ref to make sure Jelonch had an HIA.Slick wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 9:33 pmNo idea what your point is here.Lobby wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 9:30 pmIf you genuinely think that, perhaps you could explain how the medic was able to coordinate his request for Jelonch to leave the field with the tv director’s replay of the incident? He held up play and repeatedly asked the ref to look again at the incident.
My take was he was trying to make sure the ref insisted Jelonch went off, as he was just ignoring the doctor. I get the point about the ref's authority, but can a reasonable doctor really just walk off if he has genuine suspicions that a player is showing signs of a head injury? That it could well have led to a red seemed more a happy bonus than his main motivation to me.Slick wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 9:33 pmNo idea what your point is here.Lobby wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 9:30 pmIf you genuinely think that, perhaps you could explain how the medic was able to coordinate his request for Jelonch to leave the field with the tv director’s replay of the incident? James Robson is one of the most respected rugby docs in the world, and is prominent in the safety campaigns. If he didn’t think there was a need for an HIA then I’m absolutely fine with that.salanya wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 9:25 pm The doc was calling for a HIA for nearly a minute.
Jelonch ignored him and joined the line-out, and the ref never saw it.
The doc did the right thing by alerting the ref, whatever side points you can make. Docs quite often call for HIAs without the ref reviewing what may have caused it.
The Scottish docs should ask themselves why the scrumhalf didn't go for a HIA after the headbutt.
Believe what you'd like to believe. I do not understand why the ref did not send Jelonch out for an HIA immediately when the doc asked for it.Slick wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 9:09 pmNah. As I say, zero problems with the red, but the doc deliberately stopped the game to get it reviewed and that’s not on
