Willis can't play for England

Very much a CO 2nd team that.SaintK wrote: Sun Jan 19, 2025 3:58 pm I’m watching the wrong match obviously
Sarries 14 7 down to Castres second string and playing very poorly apart from the scrum
I’d rather Steward on the wing and Daly at 15 just to make double sure that none of our lads are getting tackled.Torquemada 1420 wrote: Sun Jan 19, 2025 3:53 pmOh stop. I don’t know, thought they looked OK, just a bit skewed in the context of the matchsockwithaticket wrote: Sun Jan 19, 2025 4:04 pm Half time and Toulouse are beating the clock.
Leicester in that final attack looked so, so blunt.
Yep and making Sarries look quite ordinary in attack.Torquemada 1420 wrote: Sun Jan 19, 2025 4:04 pmVery much a CO 2nd team that.SaintK wrote: Sun Jan 19, 2025 3:58 pm I’m watching the wrong match obviously

He can't. As a capped international he cannot qualify for any other nation on residency.
Are you sure? Have they changed the rule that gave us Jack Dempsey?sockwithaticket wrote: Sun Jan 19, 2025 4:12 pmHe can't. As a capped international he cannot qualify for any other nation on residency.
If he could unearth a French grandparent or evidence that he was in fact born in France rather than England, then he's 1 year and 8 months away from completing the three year stand down.
He's playing with as much passion as I've ever seen him. I think he's loving it down there.
Apologies, you are absolutely correctsockwithaticket wrote: Sun Jan 19, 2025 4:12 pmHe can't. As a capped international he cannot qualify for any other nation on residency.

What was the loophole that Armitage the fatter was looking to exploit? Was it playing in the Olympic 7s by way of residency and thus qualifying for France?
I think it was closed but I think that was a possibility at the time.
Seems you still can do that but it still has the 3 year stand downTichtheid wrote: Sun Jan 19, 2025 4:16 pmsockwithaticket wrote: Sun Jan 19, 2025 4:12 pmHe can't. As a capped international he cannot qualify for any other nation on residency.

Perhaps, but you couldn't play for two international teams at that time, Olympic qualification is based on having a passport iirc, thus different from rugby
Yes, spent a lot of their early lives there, but their origin point is Trinidad and Tobego, so they wouldn't qualify by birth place.
Oh no, he's slow. Just slightly faster in a straight line than an actual donkey.Kawazaki wrote: Sun Jan 19, 2025 3:57 pmJM2K6 wrote: Sun Jan 19, 2025 3:52 pm Not sure what all the non English are crowing about - the papers are reporting that Borthwick is strongly considering Steward on the wing and Marcus at 15, which I'm certain will strike the fear of God into all of you![]()
Steward is actually fast because he's tall though.

It really looks like that as our rugby leaders pay themselves huge bonuses for....... being able to pee without soiling themselves? England's club's and players are now well, well, behind France and Ireland, Scotland are starting to edge them and we only have Wales to look down on. Not good.
Part of the package.
