861 open pubs, 50 with infected staff = 5.6%

32 million customers @ 5.6% exposure = 1,792,000 potentially exposed customers.

Bit of context? We had a surge last week. One of ours got referred on Monday morning, test on Tuesday, result Wednesday evening. Second one referred on Tuesday morning, test on Thursday, result on Saturday. Just what happens with a surge in demand.

London is so quiet. I go in two days a week for work and it's sad how empty it is.

Just very little contact without even 1/3 full tubes, offices, limited people in restaurants etc. At least centrally.

Shooting to stay , fantastic news.great idea for cancelled kids parties replace them with shooting parties, they make great beaters.

Everyone gets a brace to take home.

On a practical note some level of shooting had to remain for animal and
Countryside conservation.

Shoots are not part of animal and countryside conservation. They are purely for pleasure. Somehow being overun by grouse or pheasants doesn't seem to be a viable threat. The breeding season is over, the numbers are already there. Vast flocks of grouse haven't started dive bombing innocent members of public yet. Far fewer pheasants were penned this year. No need for organised shoots whatsoever. Mine has been postponed until we feel it's safe and sane to organise one again.

What shooting estates do is put a lot of work into maintaining what is, pretty much, an entirely artificial ecosystem which is managed in order to maximise shooting opportunities. It’s in no way a conservation effort in respect of natural environment, but it is an attempt to conserve a particular privileged lifestyle. The management of estates is actively damaging to hares, raptors, wildcats, foxes and other ground dwelling birds such as capercaillie. That’s on top of maintaining an artificial landscape where vegetation growth is kept to knee height, traditional forest is virtually non existent and biodiversity is constrained.
