Hastings just a much more fluid player than Healy.

He is but he's also had quicker ball than healy. The pack has been more aggressive and Dobie quicker.

I quite like seeing Scotland playing the loop with the 10 - Ireland have been doing it for years and never understood why we don't. I remember practicing that at school!

I think we're learning a lot - our depth isn't nearly as good as we'd like in some positions, getting easily rebuffed by the Chilean pack is not a good look.

Currie looks comfortable at this level, but it will be a step up to the November tests.

I'm not convinced by Hastings, Dobie makes a hell of difference when he plays at scrum half.

Those were my main take away points from the game

The Chile pack physically were more than a match and neutralised almost every maul. They put in dominant hits. Except scrum the forward effort was impressive.

However, the Scotland team were playing at 70%. It's been clear the last three games the players don't have too much interest in the matches. So you'd expect a motivated team to go to to toe.

What did we really learn , probably not that much

Only two of that starting team would probably being contenders for staring a 6N match, and no one put in a steller performance to put their hand up to be 6N starter.

Dobie will probably bench due to his perceived versatility.

Not convinced on the hookers on display tonight., or either of the 2nd row.

McBeath needs another season at Glasgow - he looked decent tonight, scrummaged well , but difficult to know if he was good , or his oppo was poor.

Hastings, to me the jury is out , again he needs to get into the Team at Glasgow first - that's not guaranteed with Jordan, and Franco's preference for a 6 - 2 split he need to be a starter rather than a bench option,and he also has to lose the 'glass' reputation.

Hastings looked like someone who has been out for a while and worried about getting injured again. I hope he gets back to form as I do think he is class.

It’s a fine line between being and enforcer and being a bit of a dick and I’m not sure Ewan Johnson was the right side.

Currie looked good and there was some nice touches from Reed.

One person who did impress was Tuipulotu. He took the game by the scruff of the neck on several occasions when the team seemed to be drifting and just looked a class above everyone else, world class in fact

Both the outstanding U20 centres (in my view Venesei and Yule) at Glasgow too.

Embra seem a bit short in the centres after this. I rate Lang but he seems to break quite easily.

He played 2nd row at school for Gordons . though not very often.

I don't think I have ever seen in in the second row for Glasgow. He can do a job if required in an emergency - a bit like Bob Harley - and against this level of opposition he would be fine

He's played second row for Glasgow including in the final, a few starts there too I think Vs the bulls in the match before the final.

I've just seen an SRU promo video on FB with Hastings and Healy doing kicks with Jamie Gillan, who is a punter with the New York Giants. I hadn't heard of Gillan but he's apparently from Forres and and played rugby with Highland and also at Merchie before moving to the US as a teenager.

A quick google shows that the multi million dollar deal he's on in the NFL is rather more than Healy or Hastings makes. He comes on and punts the ball, as far as I can see that's it, there's no mention of kicking goals.

That's a specialist position alright.

This is why the NFL is attractive to pro rugby players. Minimum salary of a team now is not far short of $900,000. That's if you make the squad of 53, not practice squad. LRZ's three year contract has a nominal value of $2.83 million, although the guaranteed amount is around $700k, the rest being performance related.

Gillan has been playing in the NFL for a few years, he played rugby for Highland and Merchiston School before moving to the US at 16 (think his dad was in the RAF). He started playing football at High School there because there was no rugby, and got offered a scholarship to college at Arkansas Pine Bluff which has a Div I-AA football team. He signed with the Cleveland Browns in 2019 out of college, three years with them, and the signed with the Giants in 2022. He's played 78 NFL games and signed a two year $4million contract extension last year. The field goal kicker for the Giants, Graham Gano, also considers himself Scottish - he was born on a US Navy base near Arbroath while his father was serving there. He's been playing in the NFL since 2009 and was on the losing side in SuperBowl 50.

He makes decent money. Punter is one of the better jobs to have in the NFL. Decent money and no CTE concerns.

They do have to be pretty skilful and has to be quite strategic at times.

Yes, and he's not even the highest paid Scot at the Giants! Gano signed a three year $14 million dollar extension recently. Career earnings $43,000,000.
