Joe Parker vs Joe Joyce just about to kick off.
Parker looks quite a bit bigger than before.

Parker looked like he was there to lose really, giving up rounds by going to the ropes. That said if he had more power Joyce would have been in trouble because there were times when Parker's counter right couldn't miss.Gumboot wrote: Sat Sep 24, 2022 10:36 pm Dominant performance by Joyce who KOs Parker in the 11th round.
The BBC was calling it a heavyweight classic, which shows how poor the coverage of boxing is, journalists are little more than hype men for the big promoters.

Parker isn't a small heavyweight by any means. He was fighting at 18st last night. Joyce was just relentless and he seemed impervious to any punch, he didn't even have so much as a slight swelling on his face at the end. And he is enormous without carrying an extra timber.
Usyk absolutely schooled Joyce in the amateurs and semi-amateur fights, and it would be the same in the pros. Joyce is so robotic and stiff, I think it's telling he didn't go pro until he was 32, he wasn't thought of as much of a professional prospect.
Still seems that fury-Usyk is the only fight to make at heavyweight, but who knows if that will happen with all the contractual shenanigans Fury likes to pull.

You could take that, & just change the names, & describe about 90% of the heavyweight fights over the last 30 years or so !Blackmac wrote: Sat Dec 03, 2022 10:24 pm Jesus, boxing should be ashamed putting on that shit show. All the fake hype about the bravery of Chisora was just nonsense to try and camouflage the fact that the fight had no right taking place.
I just can't watch HW fights anymore; it's 99% of the corruption, because it's 99.9999% of the money
Sad news that Ken Buchanan has died. An absolute Edinburgh and Scottish legend.
Met him a couple of years back when he turned up at a fight night crash669 of this parish was boxing at and had about 10 minutes with him. An absolute gentleman despite his very obviously deteriorating health

All the money you made will never buy back your soul
He still looks gun shy, and is turning into a poundshop version of Wlad Klitschko. Having said that, Franklin is hard to look good against and has a great chin, some of those uppercuts would have flattened other fighters. Maybe AJ can cash out with a retirement fight against Fury, he's about done.
How much more money does Joshua need? A conservative estimate of his wealth is £150mOxbow wrote: Sun Apr 02, 2023 8:12 am He still looks gun shy, and is turning into a poundshop version of Wlad Klitschko. Fury would eat him up and spit him out. He is not at all worthy of another shot at a World title.
Hopefully he hangs up his gloves.
Whilst all of the above is true, Fury v Joshua is still one of if not the biggest fight that can be made. Regardless of whether AJ needs or deserves it if somebody threw enough money at it it'd get made, and casual boxing fans would lap it up.C69 wrote: Sun Apr 02, 2023 8:38 amHow much more money does Joshua need? Yeah I get that as well, the greed and the lure of the filthy lucre may prevail.Oxbow wrote: Sun Apr 02, 2023 9:19 amWhilst all of the above is true, Fury v Joshua is still one of if not the biggest fight that can be made. Klitschko has skills even now that Joshua could only dream of. Such a shame Joshua became so risk averse.Oxbow wrote: Sun Apr 02, 2023 8:12 am He still looks gun shy, and is turning into a poundshop version of Wlad Klitschko. I'm no expert but he is shocking. Movement is appalling and he seems to have no plan other than to react to attacks from Parker. And what the fuck is going on with his legs.Gumboot wrote: Sat Dec 23, 2023 10:34 pm Starting to get a bit lively. Wilder's such a limited fighter.
Not sure he has the power anymore most of his knockouts have been tomato cans.
Phew!
Fairs dues to Parker, he fought very well. Couldn't see Kevin Barry ever getting a performance out of him like that.
