Mclean most certainly did play under Franco , indeed he scored his final try in his final game against Perpignan in the challenge cup at the rescheduled match at Murrayfield in December 2022, and although Smith was indeed had his first game under Wilson for warriors , he is most certainly being developed under Franco.

Of course Franco has slowly been blending in youngsters in the Forwards - but that is where Glasgow have lost more senior players , Turner / Gray / Gordon / Brown / Peterson / Manjezi , so that's where the spaces have become available
My mistake time really does fly. Smith was definitely an established starter by Franco starting in 2022.

Eh there's been plenty opportunity, Smith usually has one back on the bench and his back three with NSQ players, which lessens it.

How many academy backs have been given a debut by Smith? Afshar and 10 minutes for Duncan Munn? Its not a good record... so far....
The development of backs has been objectively poor under Smith but he is getting a lot of leeway because he is winning games and championships.
He needs to look at bringing on another 10 now that Hastings is injured particularly with Jordan off at the end of the season.

Are there any games during the 6N?

Exactly, he isn't bringing any through.

Great coach, outstanding developer of forwards, isn't giving opportunities to young backs.

The format this year I believe leads to progress as long as you win two home games? If so this selection is a clear result of the new structure. Very much devalues the competition.

He’s untouchable in this form !

Total entertainment!

Great defence from Edinburgh at the end there. Love that last effort from Bradbury and Crosbie. 7 points saved !

He’s a pure difference maker. Just so incisive, rarely plays a game without a positive match altering moment (or five!).

Thoroughly enjoyed that. Really entertaining match.

Sykes, Ritchie, Curry, Goosen and especially Darcy stood out for me. But great performance throughout the team.

Yeah, I picked out those same players, plus Tom Dodd who never makes the headlines but gets through so much effective work.

Crosbie too played well

Dodd made quite an impact for sure. No idea what the TMO imagined he saw to look closely at his second try. Was as clean a maul try as I’ve ever seen !

Tough warm up game for the new batch of U20s today. Pack looked a bit underpowered but some good showings in the backs.

Darcy just unplayable! Sykes had a hell of an 80 mins, becoming a serious 2nd row for Embra and possibly Scotland!

Sebastian came unbound, went through ahead of the ball carrier and blocked a player. We were expecting it to get chopped off

I wonder if this means Curry will settle at 13? I know we have tried him a fair bit at 12 but outside centre is probably a better use of his pace - he is surprisingly rapid.

Superb performance from him. Absolutely trashed right through the middle of a Toulon ruck throwing players out of his way.

When I saw the squad list I thought Franco was kind of holding back to give the full noise a rest but the guys really stepped up and could have won that. To take 2 points away against Toulon was quite a result. Oguntibeju is a real find.

Given the starting team were pretty callow, to come away one easy missed conversion from a win away in Toulon is quite something. I was screaming for the easy 3 points at the end but I knew they would go for the try. As always, getting the score makes it the right decision.

Great result IMO.

Just finished watching on catch up. Tremendous performance really and could/should have won that - with a bit more experience on the pitch with them down to 13.

I was quite critical of Jare after his first match but my god he was outstanding today. Must be tearing it up in training as well to be getting picked and doing a full 80. Well done!

Thought Jack Mann was also superb, what a pair of exciting youngsters.

Just read through the match thread thing, didn’t think the ref was that bad to be honest.

Scotland don't have any locks who can score the try he did.

I think we've got one in him.

Jack Mann is 25, he's not too young for a player. Great preserverance he's shown to come back.

Hmm, I think he got a little lucky with that to be honest. My criticism from his first game was that he was taking contact too high and I think he did it a few times today as well.

Good showing from Glasgow, except for the double yellow period which they somehow lost 6-5. Oguntibeju was sensational, although he was swimming through mauls in a way I thought had been outlawed about a decade ago.

He definitely does carry too high at times, I thought today was his most effective carrying game.

But when was the last time we saw a Scottish second row charge onto the ball 5 metres out and carry two tackles over the line. Scott Cummings when he came through maybe?
