Not one of the great predictions...Rinkals wrote: ↑Sun Jun 06, 2021 6:12 pm Rob Key was a bit disparaging about the NZ attack in the first England innings, and though I thought he was being very unfair at the time, it really does seem that they don't have the bowlers to take twenty wickets.
England really should have won this but I don't see NZ getting into this good a position again. I can easily see England winning the rest of the games this series.

So what is the "best team"? Can't be Oz (beaten by India at home). Can't be India (smashed by NZ away). Certainly not England (currently being smashed at home by the NZ B team).ScarfaceClaw wrote: ↑Sat Jun 12, 2021 1:10 pmHe’s got a good point about the vagueness and half hearted approach in this series. While NZ are number one in the rankings they are nowhere near the best team in the world. What sort of statement would it have been for England if they walked out with an absolute swagger and treated NZ with disdain. Smash them at every turn and walk out of the series pointing at Aus saying you’re next.JM2K6 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 12, 2021 11:56 am Anyway, good article about the nonsense that is English cricket: https://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/ ... es-cricket
Also mentions how the first thing Silverwood did with Archer was make him bowl 42 overs in an innings, and under Silverwood he's averaging 43 with the ball...
Instead they’ve not really pushed anything. As the article says, it’s a warm up match/net session approach.

I’d have India, Australia, England and Sefrica all ahead of NZ as world test teams.Certain Navigator wrote: ↑Sat Jun 12, 2021 10:06 pmSo what is the "best team"? The Mockers seem to have fallen for it, though.
?? Fair enough, but on what basis? Obviously not performance.ScarfaceClaw wrote: ↑Sat Jun 12, 2021 11:06 pmI’d have India, Australia, England and Sefrica all ahead of NZ as world test teams.Certain Navigator wrote: ↑Sat Jun 12, 2021 10:06 pmSo what is the "best team"? Except that the BCs have taken 20 wickets in multiple tests in the last couple of years, including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, England, and WIndies. Our real failures have been against Australia,Certain Navigator wrote: ↑Sat Jun 12, 2021 10:02 pmNot one of the great predictions...Rinkals wrote: ↑Sun Jun 06, 2021 6:12 pm Rob Key was a bit disparaging about the NZ attack in the first England innings, and though I thought he was being very unfair at the time, it really does seem that they don't have the bowlers to take twenty wickets.

Stone gone first ball of the day. NZ need 38.
Edit: not Pammy like I originally said.

Poor start from NZ. Expect better from Boult.

So what do we reckon - coast home with maybe 1 falling. Or NZ to give us a ride being 20 for 5 after 20 overs.

England should give everyone an over bowling. Open with Bracey.
They don't want to shame him any further by having someone else be a better keeper.ScarfaceClaw wrote: ↑Sun Jun 13, 2021 10:12 am England should give everyone an over bowling. Open with Bracey.

I think we are going to be treated to a NZ 'doing it tough' morning.
You assume the BC batsmen would let any balls from Bracey go through to the keeper.JM2K6 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 13, 2021 10:15 amThey don't want to shame him any further by having someone else be a better keeper.ScarfaceClaw wrote: ↑Sun Jun 13, 2021 10:12 am England should give everyone an over bowling. I think we may have left our bowlers with just a bit too much to do...

Latham plays an absolutely glorious on drive where not even the fielders bothered to run and the commentators don’t even mention it. Was that a highlight or did it actually happen?
Haven't we won yet?tabascoboy wrote: ↑Sun Jun 13, 2021 10:38 am I think we may have left our bowlers with just a bit too much to do...
