I got a test on Wednesday for a cold that developed into a persistent cough (which happens every time I get a cold).

Thankfully the result came back in a day, but the Mrs wasn't impressed as we had to take my son out of school yesterday.
I know it’s dreadfully inconvenient... what else is one to do when faced with a beastly pandemic?
Nice

Not impressed at me in a strictly light hearted way for getting a test with with an abundance of caution for borderline symptoms.

Were you in the trial zone? Until this morning you needed a trial code to turn the app on
Yes, I was.

As for privacy. Coders I trust, and who were originally very upset with the Government app in terms of privacy, were actually quite happy with it once the released the source code for it and how it was used. It's a shame that apple wouldn't share their information to be honest, because a centralised app can be so much more usefully adapted than a decentralised one.

Watching the BBC news and every moaning twat on there today - 2 x MPs crying about Job Security measures, a medical professional questioning lockdown and an IT Bod bitching about Track&Trace App - are all fucking Scots!!

Why don't they just piss off into Independence already?

When he stood down in 2018, he had £6million quids worth. Since then he's sold ninety percent. That'll be a gradual cashing in probably agreed with the company, in order to prevent a significant one of sale impacting the share price (or the visuals of a CEO selling the lot as soon as he leaves causing a run).
GSK I think? He was President for 6 years
He was head of R&D at GSK.

I don’t think this is the gotcha moment that the Torygraph thinks it is. As Biffer has pointed out, this is simply the residue of his share options, and is only 10% of his previous holdings. It’s also worth noting that GSK is not involved with either of the main UK vaccine candidates at Oxford or Imperial. It’s only university partner appears to be the University of Queensland.

If he had substantial shareholding’s in AstraZeneca, there might have been more of a story, given its involvement with the Oxford vaccine candidate, but he doesn’t appear to have invested in AZ.
Yeah, GSK, sorry. I think the disbursement of his shares was probably a condition of taking the role he's currently in.
And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?

Boris didn't develop this.

The app has been developed in a way that's orthogonal to how Boris and chums operate their government. International collaboration, openness, rigorous inpsection by all parties, public scrutiny...

Happily, people can check the app's code for themselves to see what it can and can't allow. Assuming malicious use by the government and/or third parties was an essential first step in seeing whether the app was actually worth using or not.

Sometimes it’s funny. The economic collapse that’s coming won’t be,

Btw, disagreement with you isn’t “contradiction “ it’s just a different view, same for the jock above.

I’m a good mask wearer because I don’t want to scare the fragile. I can’t down load the App sadly.

The point is: They're not conflicting positions. If anything, it proves the opposite of your claim that "it's all political". This is an app being promoted by the Tory govt and people are willing to trust it precisely because it's open source, used with international collaboration, and does not try and harvest any details it does not need in order to operate. There's no shroud of secrecy, no bullshit, and no partisan political nonsense involved.

TORY GOVERNMENT BAD GRRR would see people rejecting it out of hand.

Good stuff regarding the App. That wasn’t my point . Sorry for the confusion.

I’m fairly sure the data will be misused. I don’t believe anything big tech says. I also believe when companies like Facebook hire high profile politicians like Nick Clegg the game is properly rigged.

I am also sure that whoever gets the data will misuse it, which is why it's important that the data collection be as minimal as possible. That was what I meant earlier by "assuming malicious use by the government and/or third parties was an essential first step in seeing whether the app was actually worth using or not". Being cynical about these things is the correct course. However, the app does need to exist.

Understood.

As we know I’m less worried about the virus so am sceptical regarding existence.

I am also concerned where this ends up.

3 week emergency powers here were to protect the NHS , we are now in week 25 with warning of another 26 weeks of restrictions. The government have massively over reached already.
