Arrogant cunts that shat themselves that they were going to lose.

Edinburgh have stepped up these last few weeks. Deep in the back of my mind I still think they're going to revert but credit where it's due.

I'd be furious if it wasn't so bloody predictable. Basics of the game getting them in trouble. How many of us have had coaches screaming at us to not let the ball bounce? But pro players do and get themselves into shit and lose the game. Fuck.

Absolutely gutted. We should 100% have won that game.

Edinburgh basically made three mistakes all night. The first let them in for their first try, and the other two gave them the platform to score at the end.

Ref was absolutely shocking. The Sharks were so far offside for most of the game it wasn’t even funny, and weren’t penalised once. He gave the Sharks penalties when their scrum was dominant, but when ours was on top he gave resets and one free kick. I was sure that there was a deliberate knock-on when we were on their line, no action taken. Two tries chalked off.

I actually expected a hefty defeat. Now I’m raging we didn’t get a 5-point win.

There wasn’t a bad player on the team tonight. What was it, 9 starters out injured? Then we lose Goosen before KO and the backs look iffy. But Harry Patterson had a great game and so did the lad who came on for McCann. I was worried about our bench, but TBH when all the subs came on, Edinburgh actually got the upper hand.

I've said for years that the best signing that Edinburgh could make would be a world class sports psychologist- we've got the players

Nothing wrong with the psychology tonight. Letting the ball bounce was an error of judgement. Then the ball that bounced off the receiver was either bad communication or a very uncharacteristic lapse of concentration.

I remain convinced that the difference between the teams was the referee. He was way more lenient on the Sharks than on us.

I hope he has some escape clause, because we cannot afford to have him not playing top flight rugby.

We, Edinburgh, are okay with Douglas, McConnell, Currie coming in but Scotland need Ritchie playing top flight rugby. In the backs it was great to see my favourite Harry Paterson playing - long may he stay fit. Jack Brown looks the business too.

He looked great under the high ball, but he is seriously lacking pace for a young back three player. There is no professional future for such a slow winger. Fullback at a stretch, purely due to high ball skills, but Steward has shown that lacking pace is a fundamental obstacle for a back 3 player. He might end up a 12 or something. Patterson on the other hand looked excellent, great to watch him complete a game without getting injured, I’ve not seen that before from him.

I was as gutted at the end of that match as I would have been had it been Glasgow.

Edinburgh looked excellent again and with all the missing first choice players this bodes very well for the future.

As for the ref, what exactly was it that Sam Skinner did to warrant a yellow card ?

The refs decision to yellow the next two players involved in a scrap was made way before the incident as a stamp of authority, I get that, but you can’t just yellow someone for being thrown to the ground by another player, regardless of his celeb status.

Great to hear such a vocal crowd though, the Hive could be the best signing that Edinburgh have had for many years, keep that up and the attendances will grow.

Freddie Steward is a good player. We don't like him because of how over the top the hype around him was for England, but if Brown is as good as Steward he'll be Edinburgh's starter for a decade at 15.

Not seen enough to comment on the pace properly but my thought last night was that he was being too tentative on his couple of breaks. If it is lack of pace rather than confidence then I agree he'll not make it as a winger.

Not if Patterson stays, he is light years ahead of Brown with only a few more professional starts. Brown also looked noticeably slower than Steward whose own lack of pace and agility is exposed almost every time he plays for England.

I didn’t notice him being especially slow? He did well to beat the defender in his 1-on-1, was incredibly unlucky to get held up. I haven’t seen the footage yet, but I reckon the guy could attempt that tackle another 20 times without preventing the ball being grounded. It just wasn’t going to be Edinburgh’s night.

Re: Etzebeth being a plastic hard man, his ‘second go’ shove on Skinner after both had been yellow-carded was pathetic. And arguably should have meant he stayed off.

Brown is 19 years old and did well last night. Wouldn't be writing him off yet. The national selectors clearly like him as they have given him an A cap. Even struggling for numbers they could have selected another player.

Paterson looks decent but we need to remember he is four years older than Brown and has lacked the important ability that is availability.

Both have a lot of work to do.

Exactly. People seem to want to write off a 19 year old in his second game, ridiculous comments from some folk on here, who seem to be such good talent scouts they know if someone can make it as a pro on the evidence of a single performance.

Three pointless halves in a row from Glasgow now, not great. They are lucky they are still well in touch in this game tbh, very very poor.
