The fact that they've got to get 21 points. We read a quote from one of their players saying that they've got a trophy to win. As a proud Scotsman, that hurt me a lot.
Errr, well yes. Even if they needed to win by 1 point! How is this different from any prematch comment "we have a game to win"?

If I were going to get in a rag, it would be over this

which, FWIW, I think is a pretty stupid thing for the FFR to do.
A bit over sensitive from Hogg (who generally I think is doing a great job as Scotland captain).

The French team do need to know what points difference is needed, I don't think anyone was saying "and that'll be easy vs Scotland" or anything like that.

I think it's a little dismissive tbh and the quote on Hogg is selective. He goes on to say that nobody is talking about a win by 8 sees Scotland finish 2nd which will be the highest they've finished. I know that's not the heady heights of winning the 6N because of refs and red cards but it marks real progress for Scotland.

Which, to be frank, is only really of interest to Scottish supporters, whereas who claims the title has a wider appeal.

Or maybe a bit click-baitey from the BBC.

Of course Hogg is hacked off, by the whole situation. France cocked-up and have caused a load of problems for the tournament organisers, sponsors, TV people and most of all the Scotland team, who are now without some key players (Maitland being the most obvious, but also with the injury to Fagerson having to call up a Wilson for the bench slot because they can't use du Preez or Gary Graham). And the FFR reaction to the clusterfuck they've created? Collective gallic shrug, no-one has done anything wrong, which is seen as massive two-fingers to everyone else.

Is Hogg hacked off with the French team saying they have a trophy to collect? Perhaps Hogg's focus is on playing (& hopefully winning) the match.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to it. Hoping the Scotland can keep it close enough that Huw Jones can make it interesting when he comes off the bench. France by 12.

Each to their own I suppose. If Italy were in Scotland's position I'd be looking for an Italy win and would like the media to talk about their chance.

That would be a much bigger story given how abject they are. In a backhanded way, it's a compliment that you being in contention for second isn't seen as particularly noteworthy.

Yeah, the way I'm seeing it is he's more hacked off at players like Maitland having to miss a big game, especially when he's been playing really well.

Sympathise entirely with the red and would not have complained if Sco had been awarded a 24-0 win. Also why I'm unclear as to why some f**kwit at the FFR thought that tweet was a good idea.

John Barclay tweeted that not only is it disappointing in terms of the tournament, but it also deprives Maitland of the chance to stake a further claim for a Lions shirt.

The quote was quite explicit:

And quite revealing. It's ridiculous to be hurt by an opposition player saying they want to try and win the championship. But if, in your heart of hearts you suspect they are quite likely to manage it, by thrashing you... yes, that would hurt a proud person. If you were confident that they couldn't do it it wouldn't hurt at all.

Well, I suppose it’s quite revealing if you take what media coached players say at media briefings as completely truthful

A few of us, including me, would have thrown him in but Harris has been very consistent for us and is better in defence. I hope Jones gets a good amount of time off the bench
