Amazing retention. I don’t think Ireland had a chance to get hold of the ball at any point.

Nice to see a ref actually penalise tacklers for not releasing in that situation.

Choke tackle penalised. HOOK IT TO MY VEINS

Irish forwards are going so far beyond the ruck to clear out a defender, they’re leaving the ball exposed on the floor.

He’s the first ref to ref Ireland properly in a long time, appears to have done his homework

Really worried about the line outs, hopefully get to settle down

Irish forwards being as dopey as England at the breakdown then. Very lucky.

Mmmm maybe not quite as bad as I first thought. It's a great finish anyway so fair enough.
edit: ah we finally get a good replay. The one arm underneath is with a clenched fist, no attempt to grasp, it's a very strange tackle attempt.

It's why you lot hate Barnes too, Prem refs tend to prefer a very clean breakdown that's closer to the laws as written.

I think he was just trying to push him out? Maybe thought he was further away than he was, and trying to be in position to match a step? Very strange.

I don’t think it’s any exaggeration to say that England suffer a 43 point penalty each week because foreign refs don’t interpret the laws properly

Excellent tacle and turnover to end that. Dunno who mouthed off to annoy the ref for another 10m, that was stupid.

That's probably the coaching video tackle to demonstrate you can tackle low, & stop the offload

Wholeheartedly agree, it's a testament to our players that they ever win tbh.

Yeah he's just trying to barge him into touch. Probably lucky it was scored.
That has to be a yellow, surely! Cynical stuff on a dangerous attack 5m out.

Vdf on his knees for the turnover there. Interesting new law to allow it - must've missed it becoming legal.

Pearce is having a very good game under a lot of pressure.
Just feel Scotland need to get ahead, can’t see clinging on being viable

I literally just went back and checked - his knee doesn't touch the ground. Lowe's does, but he gets back up before going for the ball. There was nothing wrong with it.

Ireland seem to have more control when they have the ball but we aren't doing bad.

Scotland are now showing a lot of consistency from game to game now. Ireland forwards look rattled.
