We were proper garbage but I don't think Scotland were awesome in all departments. In the cold light of day Scotland will know that they could have done a lot better than that. Obviously breaking the record is absolutely massive but Scotland can and will put on better performances than that.

Fully deserved, glad they won and that England's excruciating anti-rugby didn't carry them through at all. I'm sick of Eddie's arrogant "no-one else understands rugby" bullshit and his insane devotion to certain players regardless of just how much they shit the bed. I'm off to watch trash TV

Awesome in ALL depts? You include you half back's efforts in that? :problem:
Apart from the Itoje thing I thought Price was sound

Finn gonna Finn he can't be compared to normal 10s, he did put in some pretty special moves that given a fair bounce would have had people wetting themselves.

Thought Steel held the line well when he came on for Price, one for the future just ahead of G Horne, SH-C, Dobbie & Co.
10s, we've got Finn, Hastings, Thomson, Wier and VdW.

For the first time I can remember we've got reasonable depth in almost all positions.

Sorry to have to agree with Torq but Russell and hogg did their best to lose the game in the first half leading to the Yellow. The drop goal attempt was utterly stupid and execution was worse.

So yeah can't be easy when your best players connive to screw up about as many times as they make the difference.

His dithering with Russell lead to the yellow and could have lead to a try.
He may be man of the match (Not really sure what lead to this) but frankly that one is for your backrow.

Firstly: yes, we should have won by 15+. No disrespect to England intended, but I’ve never seen us dominate any game against a Tier 1 opponent so completely.

Secondly: Hogg had a great game - was that who you meant? Flawless defence, some top drawer broken field running, kicking was pinpoint. Russell didn’t have a good game by his standards, I’ll allow. Poor off the tee, no need for the YC, and a couple of brain farts. I’d still have him ahead of any other 10 we have though. Price didn’t have a good game either, but his place isn’t under serious threat just now.

I don't doubt that the choices are slim until a few years ago that was the French team lot as well (and terrible coaching).

You do have a good coach not sure he will get Russell the Solid head on shoulders he lacks.

On Hogg I may have highlighted his only mistake that game but that one could have cost the game.

I reckon Hogg was MoM for his tactical kicking today. He’s always got a big boot, but today every kick was perfect. How many times did he pin England back to their own line with a huge kick that bounced beautifully into touch? Four? Five?

Certainly by more than 5, but then none of us know what it's like to play under the cloud of a 38 year hoodoo and then power through it when the realisation sets in that the win is very much on the cards. The mixture of anxiety, excitement and anticipation must be a heady cocktail to try and play while experiencing.

I have no real misgivings about the margin of victory, let's be honest, England are no mugs, they are defending champions and very few sides pull their pants down. We did just that in almost all aspect save the scoreboard.
I'll take that, England are a mighty opponent, one we usually lose to, but we deserved the win today.

If you look at England under Jones, there's always a very explicit game plan for the first ten minutes to get the play in a particular part of the pitch, run set moves and get an early lead. If you disrupt that, they're a bit pish.

I did (still do) think that Jones’s decision to start 5 Saracens players gave us the advantage. What was odd, though, was that Maitland is also a Saracen, and he looked pretty sharp. Go figure.

Agree with those saying that England and English fans have shown great dignity in defeat.

But it wasn’t just the Saracens players. I heard a couple of commentators saying that other English players hadn’t played well because of the European cancellations, but that was the same for a few of our players and 2 or the best performing, Hogg and Gray

It utterly bemuses me how his ref, invisibility cloak continues to function. I sarcastically said before the game "how many will Cheap Shot get away with today?" That said, I missed that one so maybe he's developing subtlety.

An aside, do Eng fans think that perhaps Eddie is so dictatorial that he's emasculated his players from any ability to think on their feet? There was zero leadership evident yesterday and that includes the latest luv in for Lions capt, Itoje.
