Disclaimer; no cats and only two pot plants were kicked during the Crusaders last try
Anyways hopefully this is a learning experience for the boyz and this will also give those insufferable gits down in the capital some hope.

I’m a few beers in, so none of the following is necessarily gospel. But areas the Blues lost it:
Beaudy Barrett making a couple of key errors.
Some naivety from Mark Telea. He does a lot well but was outplayed by George Bridge.
Poor discipline at times. Yeah, the ref was a bit of a homer but we could have played to his interpretations better.
Plummer wasn’t bad but it would have been nice if we could have bent the line more in midfield.
What am I missing? I’m sure there’s more.

Giving couple penalties away for side entry to the clear out.
And also not him alone, but no one in the blues was able to take the high ball.
It's like 07 08 where attacking teams are getting pinged at the breakdown more, so there is more kicking, and it turns out a lot of back three players dont have the skills to handle that

Top game.......onya Crusaders. Absorbing stuff watching Auks getting the upper hand only to see the lead whittled away through penalties. But it took three quarters of the game to crack the nut......Mo’ungas unconventional restart....Mo’ungas delayed pass......and bench impact. The Jordan finale was the cream on top. Congratulations both sides......rugby chess at its best.
I think the turnaround started with the charge down of Black's kick. Due to my managerial duties with my club, I couldn't watch the first half live...due to my club's inability to show games at all, I fucked off straight after the main game to watch the last half hour at our sponsor pub...1 point in it with 30 to go...you could just see the Sadists shift up a gear to close it out, Bridge and Jordan outstanding...about to watch the recording so I can see the first 50...hard luck, JAFFAS...

Dodgy ref call on the TMO knock gave the Blue a chance, but the Crusaders immediate response of subsequent taking control of the match was might impressive.

Seeing our top players week in and week out in hard fought games is honing real test match level resilience and flair. The new wave of coaching talent is especially impressive with Razor, Rangi, an TBrown leading the pack.....but have to wait in line behind Doughnut until he is moved on.
My love for NZ rugby has cranked up several notches since the commencement of this all kiwi comp with sellout crowds........just waiting to see the addition of the new island team.

One thing that had started to concern me - but need stats to back it up- lineouts of all the teams seem to have become far less reliable. They are all different plays but the moment above reminded me of Mo’unga’s long bounced penalty touch finder against the Springboks in Pretoria in 2018 and him forcing a 5 metre scrum from a free kick (from memory, maybe a penalty) from within his own 22 in the 2018 Super Rugby final vs the Lions.
His ability to spot and exploit teams sometimes only fractionally out of position is a big strength. I don’t like the term but he is a real “heads up” player.

Disappointed for D Havili, I reckon he had his worst game in 18 months last night, I was hoping he was going to have a blinder but just never really got going, Q Strange was good value off the bench. The Blues have got some real power in their game with the way they use their big ball carriers to make yards.

I thought I read somewhere that he was part of Razors team when he applied for the job, could be wrong of course but still, I hope we don’t loose these two to overseas clubs or countries before Foster gets shown up. Not that I’m hoping he is, but it’s clear their is a new generation of players and coaches in NZ that are up to the task.
He was definitely reported as being part of Robertson’s team. It is only this year that the Blues have emerged as a force though and MacDonald has started being talked up more as a quality coach. It’s academic though, NZ Rugby were always going with Foster.

You are wrong. Leon Macdonald was part of Scott Robertson's proposed coaching team. Robertson spoke at length about that this week. NZR rejected the Robertson/Macdonald team, instead opting for the Foster/Moar/Plumtree team.
