Actually mate, I was saying same before season started, mainly I thought over last few years we hadn't used a real high skill level in super.. Mind you after Crusaders/Chiefs game last night a man is pretty happy with the quality of that! That was a bloody good game by 2 very good teams.Guy Smiley wrote: Fri Mar 11, 2022 10:19 pmGrandpa wrote: Fri Mar 11, 2022 9:57 pmShall we start a petition on Change.org?Dan54 wrote: Fri Mar 11, 2022 9:39 pm
I agree Grandpa, I think our super teams are nowhere near as good in intensity,or skill level as a few years back, and have doesn't help we only play Aussie teams aprt from each other. I have thought Premiership etc up North has surpassed super in standards, will make it awful hard when we trying to get ABs ready for test rugby.
NZ Super Rugby must have at least 3 people at all rucks!
Guys, it's only 3 weeks in. Calm yourselves.
Still wishy washy rugby though... just nowhere near the same intensity at the breakdown. If super sides aren't doing it, can the All Blacks switch to a more aggressive breakdown mindset when they play teams like England, Ireland, France and SA? They couldn't last year... so something has to change... and it's not changing at super rugby level... so Foster, over to you.. gulp...Dan54 wrote: Sat Mar 12, 2022 9:05 pmActually mate, I was saying same before season started, mainly I thought over last few years we hadn't used a real high skill level in super.. It was a top-notch match that the Chiefs took by the scruff of the neck in the last 20 mins and, such was their dominance over that period, deservedly won. The Crusaders also had a number if players out — at least 6 from their usual 23: Jager, McCallister, Williams, Barrett, Dunshea and Drummond (plus Moody during the match).Enzedder wrote: Sat Mar 12, 2022 7:52 am Fuck we deserved that one. Found it bloody inetersting watching Breakdown, and hearing Goldies take on things. He pointed out that SH teams are going to ground more than NH teams, ie the cleaners etc in NH drive upwards as they come into breakdon area and clear the players well past the area, leaving a space for the attcak etc following through to exploit.Grandpa wrote: Sun Mar 13, 2022 10:46 pmStill wishy washy rugby though... just nowhere near the same intensity at the breakdown. I need to watch the Breakdown... seeing as it's the name of the show... I think they should spend more time on this area... I know the end of last year they pointed out (like us) that it was a huge area of concern for the All Blacks...Dan54 wrote: Mon Mar 14, 2022 3:08 amFound it bloody inetersting watching Breakdown, and hearing Goldies take on things. Yep Chiefs are plaing MP only game from NZ this weekend. Actually makes sense to me.
Which camp?
Crusaders
Shame about the timing with so many matches off... but good to finally have Super Rugby back on TV in the UK...Biffer wrote: Thu Mar 17, 2022 12:54 pm Seems Sanzaar has signed a deal with Sky Sports in the UK. As of this morning it was. I can’t see anything to say it has been postponed again.
Fingers crossed.
Agreed. The two Pacific teams add a lot to the comp, even if Pacifika are a bit weaker. I feel Super Rugby is finally comfortable in its own skin. Good schedules, good sides, good code.Biffer wrote: Sat Mar 19, 2022 8:23 am Man the Drua are a lot of fun. If they had a vaguely competent line out they would have won that game by a distance. Great to watch though, really adds to the tournament.
It is encouraging that neither Drua nor Moana have faced any embarrassingly large losses.Jimmy Smallsteps wrote: Sat Mar 19, 2022 11:04 amAgreed. 59-12 wasn't ideal for Pasifika tonight but the Chiefs are looking a vintage side.Kiwias wrote: Sat Mar 19, 2022 11:15 amIt is encouraging that neither Drua nor Moana have faced any embarrassingly large losses.Jimmy Smallsteps wrote: Sat Mar 19, 2022 11:04 amAgreed.
