COVID-19 in SOUTH AFRICA
Is it not about social distancing and the requirement to have every second seat empty?Sandstorm wrote: ↑Fri Nov 13, 2020 3:24 pmStandard doubling of the prices every December. Don't know about that, a Jo'burg - London BA flight on the 27th is £270, after that £400, after 28th £2,900.
The closer to Christmas flying out the more expensive after the 9th.
The PCR test are fu.cking expensive. £120 cheapest for not guaranteed turnaround in 48 hours. £150 and up for 24-48 turnaround.

Have to work from home for a chunk to finish financial statements and audit. Tbh I'm not the type of person who can go two weeks without doing 'work' as it were, too objective orientated.Sards wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 6:01 amYou bunch of slackers.....hardly worked this year and taking leave from the 8th of DecemberTheNatalShark wrote: ↑Fri Nov 13, 2020 9:16 pm Flights for 8th - 27th booked

We got the longest sand beach in the SH, so social distancing isn't a problem. We also have zero cases. It's the safest place in South Africa

Ja vok. My mate is finishing on the 5th and heading to Sedgefield and returning just before Christmas when I will only be finishing work on the 20th....like a sucker I took on more work than I can handle before year end. I couldn't resist. A very prestigious project with all my charcoal fired goods in Stellenbosch and another takeaway fashioned on my wifes shop in Rondebosch which the client went to see with the agent last week.TheNatalShark wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 6:09 amHave to work from home for a chunk to finish financial statements and audit. I am looking for accommodation after new years. Probably around the Sedgefield area. Last year we had an awesome holiday there.. also late booking. And the crowds were minimal

A super spreader, I would imagine. Although probably slightly more socially distanced than in previous years.

A total of 73 more Covid-19-related deaths have been reported: Eastern Cape 32, Free State 23, Gauteng 7 and Western Cape 11. This brings the total number of deaths to 20 314, he said.
Of the 73 deaths, 15 reportedly occurred in the last 48 hours: seven in the Eastern Cape, two in Gauteng and six in the Western Cape.
Four of the top five deadliest Covid-19 hospitals in the country are in the Eastern Cape, according to an analysis of hospital admissions data for 100 hospitals which have admitted more than 50 patients since the Covid-19 outbreak began in March. The data was published by the National Institute for Communicable Diseases.
When ranked in terms of the overall percentage of patients who died after being admitted to a hospital with Covid-19, only one private hospital was in the top 50 of the worst-performing hospitals in the country.

The anti-vaccers are already going mental. I have a couple of Saffa friends who have since left to move to NZ, and spend their time screaming about Bill Gates, 5G, microchips, etc. Unbelievable that they actually believe that shit.
Whilst my age bracket means I'm probably not first in line, I'll gladly wait my turn and ensure my family get it. Although I suspect I'll get it on my next trip to the UK, rather than deal with the corruption here when it arrives. I'm sure someone is already printing fake vaccine certificates.

Btw what happened to the mythical South African TV money that was supposed to have kept NZ and Australia afloat since the game went pro? South African posters are always boasting about how wealthy the game is in South Africa, yet here we have SARU begging World Rugby for money.
Dude............we are way down the pecking order in terms of receiving vaccines.....all the wealthy countries will get first dibs and its only expected to be available in July next year for us...and then it will go to those that require it urgently first.
I take precautions but I am not living in fear of it....like I said....make all the arrangements that if something happens to you your family is covered...and can continue without you financially....that is the biggest priority for all of us husbands and fathers.....

Same, but it would make sense to give it to more vulnerable groups first...elderly, diabetics, people with hypertension etc.Big Nipper wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 7:37 amIndeed it is a no brainer. I will pay top dollar for it too

I will be first in line to get my vaccine jab as soon as it comes out. Over the years i have had to get my fair share of all kinds of vaccines do to travels to many countries that required all kinds of vaccine certificates. So getting another vaccine jab does not bother me in the least.
I also do not think South Africa will wait in line for to long behind rich countries to get vaccines. We have a few local companies that signed deals to produce vaccines locally. I think Aspen was one who has a deal with Johnson & Johnson and Biovac has a deal with some American company to produce their vaccine here. Can't remember who was in cooperation with Oxford. So there there will be a few options available in SA it seems.
But it sounds like the Pfizer vaccine will not be available in SA, or the rest of Africa,(most likely not in any developing country around the world) as the specific technology to store and control the vaccine is not available here or any developing country according to the article i read.

I don't want the Pfizer vaccine! No chance I'm trusting the NHS to transport and store it safely, it'll probably be useless by the time they inject it. Like sour milk.bok_viking wrote: ↑Fri Nov 27, 2020 9:43 am

I had my flu jab in March....probably still good....
Generally I can't give a vok for any kind of chemicals in my body...including pain killers ....
Its not natural.
Its bad enough I need to take blood pressure tablets.....every vokken day of my life, with my morning coffee.
If I could find a homopathic method I would drop the pills.....
Yesterday I fainted at work and had to go to the doc....but he is cool....Stress related...I am so vokken busy at work I really don't know when we will close this year....and I am turning away work every day unless they can except it next year , which is almost full for January already. Anyway the stress of the last 2 weeks got to me and I was getting dizzy spells and then just fainted.....Doctor wanted to give me pills to relax me.....I have a herb that does the same thing but don't use at work for obvious reasons....might have to adjust that during this very busy time.
To make it worse I am very involved in the running of my wifes shop...decisions to be made , financing it and doing cash ups at night around 10 pm. so I am averaging about 5 hours sleep a night and thats not exactly a restful sleep anyway as I cant stop processing....And we normally run through things when I get home from Steel-line so there not much of a break.
I reckon stress is a far greater danger to me than any COVID....a mate of mine is half paralysed because of a sress related stroke....and he cant stand what he has become and the strain he puts on his family...and often talks about ending it....
I have made a conscious decision to not check my emails, wattsaps or answer calls from clients after 4 pm.....Tried it last night and vok its hard....but with discipline anything is possible.....
We have both , my wife and I , put stricter protocols into place for staff and clients that visit us...enforcing regular washing. Forcing the staff to wear the masks properly....sanitising .... Checking temperatures ( which we have always done )so we are busy doing our bit.
Regards a Vaccine....don't know if I will bother...prefer to get it , take my chances and build up immunity tbh....
