This quote in the article by a MSF doc was what triggered me I guess.
Roz Scourse, a policy advisor for Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors without Borders, told Insider: "I think the worst case scenario, to be blunt, is that we will continue to see people in low and middle-income countries dying of COVID for many years to come when there are effective vaccines and treatments available.
"There isn't a greater inequity, in my mind, than dying of something when you know that a treatment or a vaccine for that exists somewhere."

Its like donating to a soup kitchen and then standing at the front of the queue and eating all the soup.

I didn't rant, I quoted an article that seemed fairly well researched. In a respected publication.
You forget about Page 1 of this thread....?

On page 1 I quoted an article that said rich countries representing 15 % of the population had reserved 51 percent of the planned vaccine production. That seemed to trigger some posters.
At least Pfizer and AZ did consented clinical trials this time. As late as 1996 was experimenting on Nigerians without their consent.

I'd rather my mum and dad got vaccinated tbh. Just like the oldies in the UK are.

My elderly parents are both in South Africa and waiting patiently too.

Well hopefully they are in a safe place. Most South African elderly are not. They have very limited access to health services and often live in crowded multi-generational homes where sheltering safely is close to impossible. Mine are privileged and lucky. Pointing that out is not trolling. The world has only ever changed when people talk about what should be changed.

My dad is in a Port Elizabeth hospital
right now having a blood transfusion. No, he's not in a safe place.

Sorry to hear that mate. We really should have done better for them. My mum and dad are really suffering with this lockdown.

From here in the USA, I know very few of the over 75s who have got their first jab because of a shortage of supply. They open a site to register to get one at 6:00am, and all slots are taken within an hour. So we wait a further week.
Good luck to your Dad, Sandy
