Vermeulen will be there mostly in a mentor role, similar to Schalck Brits in the previous WC.
I'm ok with that, but we can't have him and Deon Fourie doing the same thing.
Anyway, I expect the squad to change quite a bit before the final one. We're definitely going to pick up some injuries, and we need to use the RC to trial some new combinations.
I'm not thrilled to see Jesse Kriel ahead of Andre Esterhuizen though.
Vermeulen is a senior Bok with tons of international experience. Fourie might be a senior but is still a rookie on international level.
Alphaville is a disappointment. Very pedestrian, has all the tools and have been given ample opportunity.

Anyways, people always complain when these camps come around. You have to keep in mind that these are only alignment camps. Not all the players there will go and some that were not there might go. There are reasons why certain players are excluded. For example, some foreign based players were not released by their clubs.

Oh my word. The Manie hate from WP supporters is off the charts. I don't know how he takes it tbh. He can have 3 MOTM games and the Stormers lose the final and its all his fault. Completely ignoring the others who let the team down. And Dobson for failing to take the match seriously with his selections and complete lack of tactics. I mean seriously....its not like they played Munster a year ago last. And they lost that match so the alarm bells should have been there.

The Manie hate is not just Stormers supporters. Look at our own thread and it's all the other URC supporters (even your fellow Sharks supporters)said he was kak and wisselvallig. It's only you that can't see him play kak because of your Willemse hate.

The Stomps are too poor to afford Kolbe.
Maybe he will go to the $harks?
If this happens will $ards start to rate the midget?

We already have Penxe. It would be a shame to see Kolbe on the bench.

Penxe has been fantastic this year. Really hard working and solid with some x factor touches.
Kolbe and his family are very confused about him being let go. They have built a life for themselves in France. Had kids there. He seems determined to work his way back into the team. Or another team in France.

I enjoy Manie. Think he is the best thing to happen to the Stormers. Need to keep reminding WP supporters this. Before him it was Rassie 10 man rugby.

Blommetjies can kick for posts. X factor. I didn't like him but he has grown on me. Perfect substitute for Gelant. Don't give a shit about Willemse. Overrated.
I have been very encouraging about Blommetjies. As I said. If it wasnt for him WP would have been out of the CC already

I'm very disappointed with what he wrote on social media. He knows that. I’ve had a meeting with him," said White.
"Considering the Bulls let him go and play in a game overseas, to read the comments he made was obviously disappointing.
"But he's got to make decisions. He's a big boy now and he’s got to make decisions about where he wants to go and it's not always in anyone else’s hands other than the player.
"At this point in time, as I said, he's got to look and see where he wants to go. But he's not playing well enough, not training hard enough and I don’t see him warranting selection above guys that have been training in the group.
"It's not for me to discuss the guy’s future. He's a big boy now, a World Cup-winning Springbok, and he has to make decisions about where he wants to be.
"And he's got to make sure that those decisions are in the best interest of both himself and the club."
To much surfing

Jean Kleyn - interesting development - has applied for permission to represent the Springboks.
The additional players that will assemble in the capital are Cheslin Kolbe (wing), Andre Esterhuizen (centre), Handre Pollard (flyhalf), Jasper Wiese (No 8), Jean-Luc du Preez (utility forward), as well as Vincent Koch and Trevor Nyakane (both props).
Furthermore, Jean Kleyn – who played five Tests for Ireland after qualifying on residency grounds in September 2019, which included participating in the 2019 Rugby World Cup – will join the squad as a 41st member pending the outcome of an application filed by SA Rugby regarding the former DHL Stormers lock’s eligibility in terms of Regulation 8 and based on birth right. The decision is expected to be received soon.

I think it's not a bad choice for him. He's only played for Ireland 5 times in the last 4 years, so he's not exactly on their radar.
But I can't say he's really caught my attention over the last URC season.

Its the Munster influence. Look like the Boks will split in two teams playing the Wallabies on the 8th and a week later the All Blacks in NZ. RG and Kleyn will probabley start against the Wallabies. Etsebeth and Lood against the All Blacks.

If so, it will be on himself and his agent. My bet is he's not in contention for Ireland anyways and just maximizing his income and marketability to clubs.
