The consensus is our issues are up front, so I think forwards coach Plumtree and set piece coach Moar also need to shoulder a lot of the blame. Plumtree talks about the need for physicality and is fond of saying, "we know what to expect" before every test, but I'm starting to think he's just talking out his arse.
Plumtree know SA Rugby inside out and will be probably the first to apply for coaching the Springbokke.
Lot of credit to Nienaber and Rassie who always have that surprising factor.
To coach the Springbokke you need a thick skin and good planning with all the shite politics added to the job.

Some of these players are just soft and or can't be bothered with the hard stuff or the technique which goes with it. The front row hasn't been coached in offensive defensive, or defensive offence.
Tu'ungafasi. He got driven back upright with the ball. Not the first time this has happened. Doesn't seem to know how to approach contact.
Tuipolotu. The definition of soft. Mucks up the final ball carry and turns it over. It's horrible the ABs have to keep going back to him. He seems bewildered at this level.
Moody is off. Retallick is off. Taylor is off. Akira is playing a different game most of the time, he never seems present for long. Jacobsen and Blackadder are journeymen who produce the occasional performance. Savea is a show pony.
It's all very well having an open game plan with a mobile pack but what are you going to do when you meet a motived and aggressive (if dated) pack like that? Particularly when the ref isn't up to it?

Mutton are you blaming the ref?

We got Bok-blitzed.
Great game.
That was the true Bok DNA -- pace and power. And we couldn't match up.
Yet the Wallabies dealt with that Bok muscle quite comfortably ... and Rennie has Will Skelton to add in.
Test rugby has suddenly taken on a whole new look and interest.

Re. our midfield, remember the widespread speculation last year about how Caleb Clark might go there?
And Jordie too of course, but now he's invaluable at 15 though there is the possibility of Roger T-S doing well if only he could make it onto the field.

Until the pack is sorted out it doesn't matter who plays in midfield...

Yep.
We need loosies who perform their role, and be all over the breakdown. And a tight five providing grunt and winning line outs.
Although, if and when we get to picking the mid field. I don’t know, maybe we pick a mid fielder ??

Lets convert Akira into a number 12...

Of course, with Rieko at 13.

I think Sards is the only Saffer more upset than the kiwis after this result.
You know him so well.

Where is Clark?
He opted to go for a place on the NZ Sevens Team at the Tokyo Olympics, but ended up only being named as a "travelling reserve" iirc - his limitations were cruelly exposed during this year's Supe Rugby, and he was nowhere near making the ABs again this year anyway. He's not a very smart player imho. I'll be mildly surprised if he plays test footy again.

A bit of go-forward midfield power might provide the momentum for our tight five and loosies to rumble rather than to have to scramble backwards or sideways.
Presumably Reiko will be at centre for the Blues next season.
And should the Blues/ABs see Tuivasa Sheck as a winger, then Clark at second five could see that trio develop a formidable combination. BB at first five for the Blues, but should Sullivan be given a bit of time there then there's a youthful 10, 12 and 13 settling in as one.

Please boet. I'm a bok fan every day of the week.
If you want to complain after beating NZ away from home, sitting with the RWC 2019 trophy as well as a series victory over the BIL's after playing no rugby in 2020, then you're not a man that's easily satisfied.
At least you were smart in not backing your team the all blacks over the weekend, would have enjoyed it to put you off the bored for 2 weeks.

Steyn's hit on D-Mac reminded me of Bismarck on Carter a few years ago. Ref just needed to take a second and check it before making such a game-altering decision.

I mean it doesn’t look great tbh.
A tad high at impact is not an unfair assessment

I still think it was a legit hit.
But given the rules these days, he'd probably be given red and banned.
