I tested negative this morning. Exactly 2 weeks from when I think I contracted it.

Rest of the family all still positive but in good health and spirits.

My Omicron experience was like a typical cold. Snotneus and sore throat. I did feel hella fatigued for about 4 days. My symptoms are pretty much all gone. I'm pretty grateful for the vaccine protection tbqh. I'm a pretty fit bugger and lead a healthy lifestyle but have had issues with my prostate and had a stroke a few years back. I don't think I'm immuno-compromised but I don't take my health for granted like I used to.

No it is not the crazy one that I was engaged to in 2017. Thank God for that. That piece of work wanted my friends to sign a letter she had drawn up where she claimed all sorts of insane stuff about me sleeping with her friends and being a crack addict so she could give it to my family. Was on the verge of approaching courts to have a restraint order issued. Crazy crazy

Beaches were absolutely packed this past weekend....we went to Boulders on friday morning to escape the crowds and when it started filling up we ducked...avoided the beaches for the rest of the weekend.....people were everywhere....even at the Milnerton lagoon which is crawling wth ecoli from the shit that comes down the river , through MACs , into the sea.....they even stopped watersports at Milnerton Aquatic Club because of it.
Restaurants were packed....we stopped at Kalky's for some fish and chips after Boulders.....that was pumping.
My neighbours son came home from his initiation this weekend....my piss cat neighbour had an excuse to drink from friday to 12 last night and the amount of people that attended was not funny....not a single mask, sharing drinks and smokes....vok.
The kids are very suscepitable to Omicron. They get it , shrug it off after a few days and infecting the adults...so its no biggie for them.

I completely agree Sards. Ideally I'd like a better vaxx take-up but realistically we just need to open up completely now. Live sport crowds is about the last real restriction isn't it? I'm pretty certain that we have a herd immunity of sorts in many areas now.

See in the news that South African researches have found that COVID jumped from handlers who were positive but asymptomatic to animals in a zoo here in SA. They have just published their paper for peer review. Telling people to be careful handling animals if they are positive with COVID, and warning that if the virus is jumping from humans to animals there is nothing to stop it from mutating again and jumping back from the animals to humans.

Cabinet relaxes Covid-19 protocols as 4th Wave ends in South Africa

Cape Town - South Africa has officially exited the fourth wave of the coronavirus and has subsequently resumed daily attendance at schools, removed physical distancing in schools in addition to adjusting isolation directives.

The Cabinet has approved a number of adjustments with immediate effect to the country’s Alert Level 1 Covid-19 regulations based on the trajectory of the pandemic and the levels of vaccination, following a special Cabinet meeting on Monday.

The Cabinet has approved several changes which pertain with Covid-19 protocols, such as amendments to isolation guidelines and ending social distancing at schools.

Isolation:

Isolation is not required for those who test positive but show no symptoms.
The isolation period has been reduced to seven days if you test positive with symptoms
Only contacts with symptoms need to isolate.
“The rationale for these amendments is informed by the proportion of people with immunity to Covid-19 which has risen substantially, exceeding 60-80% in several sero-surveys,” the Minister in the Presidency Mondli Gungubele said.

possibly, but I think the vast majority of people who are asymptomatic will not know they are positive.

For healthcare workers there might be other regulations in force when it comes to being asymptotic but positive.

I was in Darling yesterday and noone is wearing one...stopped at the petrol station and none of the jockeys or the attendant in the shop had one....I took mine off and held it in my hand because I kinda stood out....Don't wear it anymore at work....only put it on if going into a shop. Or meeting...SOOOOOOOOOOO over it

I wear one in indoor public places (malls, restaurants) and when moving around in the office (but not at my desk).

Sympathy for immune-compromised individuals, but their risk for Covid is the same for any other contagious disease out there.
They need to take precautions when out in public and I'll wear a mask, but that's as far as I'll go.

Covid-19 in SA: 1 266 new infections and 2 deaths recorded

The majority of new cases today are from Gauteng which accounted for 42%. This is followed by Western Cape at 18%.

KwaZulu-Natal accounted for 16%; Mpumalanga for 8% and North West for 7%. The Free State accounted for 5%; Eastern Cape for 3%; Limpopo for 2%; and Northern Cape accounted for 1% of new cases.
