If the Erasmus defence is going to treat people like naive idiots then don't expect much sympathy.
That's the job of the Lions coach.

I guess at least when South Africa play, the ball-in-play time is so risible that referees will have fewer decisions to make.
Such a sore loser.

When you're the RWC champs and no 1 ranked side in the world losses sting a little more than when you're ranked say no. 5 and haven't won the RWC since 2003. 🤗

I think his point if it needs spelling out is that this video outburst was immediately proceeding a loss where the boks were 0-1 down

2/1 is better than a draw.

I know, but Rassie pointed out the refs incompetence and bias.
The ref was LANK disrespectful towards our captain too.

You first comment on pointing out incompetence to the world was that of a sore loser.

Though I’d agree with that last point. He certainly didn’t give him the bandwidth he did to the lions captain and even some of the lions players.

Rassie not doing his case any good by this delay regarding making it public. He has an axcellent legal team. Just get it over with. This is like dealing with a disgruntled employee that is doing everything to escape sanction. Noone will want to deal with him eventually.

I think that he is doing the right thing. It also gives me the impression that he knows that he, himself, is not guilty of the charges.

This is not the Stalingrad "I demand my day in court" defense of JZ.

As soon as the relationship between two parties becomes unworkable it has to end. Otherwise you have a clustervok. I am not saying Rassie should humble himself but this " I am going to fight you at every turn in the media and public domain bull " by Rassie is counter productive and becoming a soap drama rather than a solution between 2 parties. It's never going to be resolved amicably.

Why not? He is being accused of something that he clearly believes he is not guilty of. He wants an open and transparent process. What is wrong with that?

I was at Varsity with Rassie. My personal opinion of him is not that great.
Here I stand with him. If he believes that he is innocent then he must be able to have a free and fair trial.

Erasmus is a God-botherer apparently. Probably thinks he's being instructed by some divine cause from a higher place. You can't reason with a nutcase like that.

As I said before, just martyr the fuckwit, let the South Africans worship a moron and then the rest of us can behave like adults.

You're a bigot and a troll. No South Africans on this board worship him. Most of us are critical about his behaviour but this doesn't suit your narrative so you invent one. He did howver lead us to world cup glory and the no.1 spot in world rugby rankings. A year after we were ranked no.7 in the world. This upsets you. You're jealous because we keep wacking your team out of the park when it matters.

As for God-botherer, so are the entire Fijian, Samoan and half the NZ and Australian teams. Many atheists are unathletic nerds, you strike me as one of those types.

Wouldn't it be great if God finally went public and announced that... "No, I did not have a son called Jesus... and yes, the Bible, Koran etc are all fake... and no, Earth is not the only place in this universe with intelligent life... in fact, take a good look at the asteroid belt... they're not all rocks you know..."

Would be a nice little teaser...

It would also be nice to understand that probably a majority of the world's rugby players are "god botherers" . Their beliefs are none of your business. Costs nothing to simply accept that its their choice and exercise a little tolerance and respect. But I guess being edgy about it on a rugby forum is not the same as real life. Its a little more scary to mouth off like that when you're say outside a mosque in Bradford or maybe sitting in the crowd with a bunch of Fijians at a Sevens tournament.

Erasmus, you or anyone else can believe in fairies and elves for all I care. What I do care about though is rugby and the integrity of the game. Gobshites like Erasmus have already damaged the game, people simply won't become referees and those that do will be of a far worse standard than what we have now.

His video was a disgrace and any circling of the wagons by those in South African rugby who think of this as some kind of crusade to save rugby are imbeciles.

In my personal experience he is not that trustworthy and is a rumor monger.

However he has done extremely well as a coach. The players seem to trust him.

Agreed. Like making a video longer than an hour criticising a referee and only highlighting perceived errors the referee made that went against your own team.

Then why raise the issue of his personal religious beliefs? And again I think most Saffer posters on here and PR are uncomfortable with some of Rassie's actions or at least question them. There is no crusade or circling of the wagons. Your view of South Africa is based on what we were 40 years ago. Saffers are not all conservative white Afrikaners for ffs. Maybe its time to let go of those stereotypes mkay?

Then why raise the issue of his personal religious beliefs? And again I think most Saffer posters on here and PR are uncomfortable with some of Rassie's actions or at least question them. There is no crusade or circling of the wagons. Your view of South Africa is based on what we were 40 years ago. Saffers are not all conservative white Afrikaners for ffs. Maybe its time to let go of those stereotypes mkay?

The stereotype still exists because of the hubris of people like Erasmus are still very much around.

Agreed. Like making a video longer than an hour criticising a referee and only highlighting perceived errors the referee made that went against your own team.
Not if the intention of the video was to highlight decisions and behaviour that you felt disadvantaged your team.

Are you able to say why your personal opinion of Rassie from varsity days was not great?

Why feed the troll?
Just leave it to stew in its own misery.

That's if you only engage with that kind of South African. There are over 50 million of us speaking 11 different languages with a multitude of colours, religions and world views. To have the old no sense of humour, thick white Boer trope brought up again and again gets a bit tired.
