Not sure if serious...? 7 appearances, 5 tries (including two against England at HQ).
Can anyone post the photo of Darcy riding the vanquished Englishers?
I’m assuming that’s a photoshop. It can’t be real, surely?
It’s real
I'm repeating this everywhere I see it, but I think the best solution for the SH is to copy Europe - domestic comps plus an equivalent of the Heineken. They have forever been plagued by great teams playing in shit competitions, domestically and internationally. The current situation seems to have helped them stumble into something better - Super Rugby Aotearoa looks great, and for the saffers the Currie Cup is a terrific competition that people actually give a toss about. The Aussies need to work out their domestic comp. The Party Line wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2020 9:28 am I know there has been rumours abounding about More South African teams joining the Pro1X!, but NZ look like they are going their own way and this is beginning to seem very real. In situations like this there is always talk about major change, for once it seems really like it might be on the cards... A bit of a shock tbh.
Nope, I would have been delighted with that. Unlikely to find enough monkey butlers in Scotland though.Biffer wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 7:47 am Let's face it, you could have built a luxury 15,000 seat stadium with Chesterfield seats, moving walkways and personal monkey butlers for every ticket holder and there would still have been people criticising it.
As an Edinburgh St holder, it looks good to me.
You're right but I'm not overly fussed seeing as the plan is to upgrade bit by bit. Probably cheeky of me to be critical considering how much I get through anyway.
Just brilliant there is a stadium of any kind, so needed.Biffer wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 7:47 am Let's face it, you could have built a luxury 15,000 seat stadium with Chesterfield seats, moving walkways and personal monkey butlers for every ticket holder and there would still have been people criticising it.

Indeed, Christie has had a decent SR mini season.I like neeps wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 11:35 am Of course minifield is going to be crap. We're building a stadium on the cheap that's not really even needed.
I watched the Canes Blues this morning. Cracker of a game in the cake tin. Good atmosphere despite being nowhere near full on a dreich night and the stands are miles from the pitch. It is possible.
Minifield hopefully won't even be used much with bigger games at Murrayfield and hopefully Edinburgh have a few. A waste of money.
Also Finlay Christie looks a pretty good player.
Why don’t you think it’s needed? I think it’s desperately needed. I’ve personally got close to zero interest in going to watch Edinburgh at Murrayfield but with a real home and a bit of atmosphere will probably give it a go. The main thing is that it’s there. Glasgow found it far easier to build an identity and a solid support once they had a permanent home at Scotstoun. Embra really need something similar.
Jordan isn’t qualified, that was bullshit. Jamie Lyall reported as such a few months ago. He is England qualified though, so the ABs better tie him down quick.Caley_Red wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 10:18 pmIndeed, Christie has had a decent SR mini season.I like neeps wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 11:35 am Of course minifield is going to be crap. Murray Douglas was named in the Red's starting XV this week as well, only watched the highlights last night so didn't see how he got on.
Will Jordan has probably been the player of the tournament in NZ so that kills the wishful thinking on the Thistle pod some months back: think he'll be a starting AB this year.
Did you go to Myreside out of interest? I can only see minifield being a wee bit better than that.Slick wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 6:59 amWhy don’t you think it’s needed? I did go to Myreside a few times and enjoyed it- in fairness I know lots of Watsonians so was always a good meet up. The problem across Scottish rugby was that it was Myreside so not many no Watsonians would go!I like neeps wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 2:48 pmDid you go to Myreside out of interest? I'm the opposite - I have been to BTM a few times when up in Edinburgh but I don't have the interest to sit in a temporary permanent stand at minifield.
I don't think the atmosphere will be any better either. I've never been the type to go to a sports game and make a lot of noise and I don't think that's too uncommon. I think Glasgow have done exceptionally well to create an atmosphere out of nowhere really. I would imagine scotstoun did help - but so did having generational world class talents all appearing at the same time and playing a brand of all court winning rugby we'll be lucky to see again for a while.

I’m certainly not a pumped music type either but I think it’s got a chance of making an atmosphere that 4K inside Murrayfield doesn’t have. Also “neutral” ground, easy access both across Edinburgh but also from Fife etc
Each to their own of course but I know a lot of people that are quite excited about the new stadium.
Having been past the new ground a few times, the seats are a damn sight higher than they were at Myreside. There's standing in front of the seats on three sides, so the fist row of seats is something like 6-8 feet in the air and there's more of a rake than there was at Myreside.I like neeps wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 9:08 amGood to hear slick I'm glad people are excited.Slick wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 6:01 pmI did go to Myreside a few times and enjoyed it- in fairness I know lots of Watsonians so was always a good meet up. I didn't like Myreside at all - the temporary stand I was in was uncomfortable and the view wasn't very good. I quite like a higher vantage point. Just didn't enjoy the experience. But you're right each to their own, I'm looking forward to going to the big games at Murrayfield but think I'll give minifield a miss.
I wondered if those were standing areas, I quite like standing at games.Having been past the new ground a few times, the seats are a damn sight higher than they were at Myreside. Yeah, when they were discussing it many of us as season ticket holders made it quite clear that we wanted decent standing areas, and not to be relegated to one end. How is Rory Brand doing?Margin__Walker wrote: ↑Tue Jul 21, 2020 10:49 am Glad he got picked up. Still well worth a squad spot at the top level.
Not getting any game time other than the odd stint here and there for London Scottish. We had 4 senior 9s on the books, which probably explains Steele being released. Expect Brand will be more involved next season.I like neeps wrote: ↑Tue Jul 21, 2020 11:04 amHow is Rory Brand doing?Margin__Walker wrote: ↑Tue Jul 21, 2020 10:49 am Glad he got picked up.
