When the people in the bottom flat decide that want to stick a camera in their window, that inadvertantly films people coming in and out of the building.
You write them a polite nice letter (you don't want to get the landlord involved), telling them you are a carer and you do not give them your consent, as the safety and security of the people you look after is being placed in jeopardy, and because I don't want to be filmed six times a day coming and going into my home.....and don't want people to know when I am away from the vulnerable people I take care of, or out of my flat, I'm weird?
Tempted to buy a camera and stick it on the wall, in the corridor, directed at their front door. See how they like it.
We can all have fun with gaw'damned cameras.
They have a GDPR compliance issue. They need to show that they're not storing recordings of you entering or leaving if you've requested otherwise
Correct, the use of personal CCTV and video surveillance cameras is exempt from the requirements of GDPR and DPA only if they only capture images within the boundary of a person’s private domestic property (including the garden).
If images are captured of people outside the boundary of their private domestic property (e.g. a neighbour’s home or garden, shared/communal spaces or public streets) then they must comply with the GDPR and DPA in the use of the system and the personal data collected.
The ICO has published guidance on its website (Domestic CCTV systems – guidance for people using CCTV) which sets out the requirements:
Let people know you are using CCTV by putting up signs saying that recording is taking place, and why.
Ensure you don’t capture more footage than you need to achieve your purpose in using the system.
Ensure the security of the footage you capture – in other words, holding it securely and making sure nobody can watch it without good reason.
Only keep the footage for as long as you need it – delete it regularly, and when it is no longer needed.
Ensure the CCTV system is only operated in ways you intend and can’t be misused for other reasons. Anyone you share your property with, such as family members who could use the equipment, needs to know the importance of not misusing it.
Refry could also give them a subject access request, either verbally or in writing, and they would have to give him copies of all the personal data (images) they have of him, and must do so within a month.
If they fail to meet their GDPR and DPA obligations, they could be fined by the ICO.

ICO says otherwise -
https://ico.org.uk/your-data-matters/do ... sing-cctv/
There are many domestic CCTV systems on the market to help you protect your home. If you’re thinking of using one, you need to make sure you do so in a way that respects other people’s privacy.
If you set up your system so it captures only images within the boundary of your private domestic property (including your garden), then the data protection laws will not apply to you.
But what if your system captures images of people outside the boundary of your private domestic property – for example, in neighbours’ homes or gardens, shared spaces, or on a public footpath or a street?
Then the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA18) will apply to you, and you will need to ensure your use of CCTV complies with these laws. This guidance refers to them as the ‘data protection laws’.
Regardless of whether or not your use of CCTV falls within the data protection laws, the ICO recommends you use it responsibly to protect the privacy of others.

Its interesting, that the laws about filming people in public are essentially about not having to ask everyone in the background of a photo you took in Disneyland for permission, but is now translated to "it is ok to stick a static camera and film everyone outside your property, and film people going in an out of their homes".
.went on a bit of a rant here, just fed up..deleted said rant.

Just one camera can completely change peoples behaviour, where I have to turn right instead of going left and go a mile or so out of my way..and the long way around if I don't want to be spied on and have my day to day behaviour monitored.
Feel sorry for the bloke upstairs who is seriously ill, on the sick and is withering away, poor bastard has nerve damage in his back that is stopping nutrients going to his bottom half..but who used to like to try to help with the bins if he was feeling up to it.. as he thought he was doing a little bit to help here. Feel part of the community.
He felt just slightly less than useless for 20 minutes every week. Stuff like that is important to people.
Now he has a camera in his face, so doesn't do it anymore.
It is just the general "this is what I think I will bring to my neighbourhood, I won't help with the bins, but be completely fucking ignorant...not get to know people, but judge them anyway,..and to top it off will shove a camera in everyones face, and if they don't like it tough titty".
The tides of selfishness, creeping fascist fuck'wittery, miserabalism, snobbishness, self serving contempt and meanspiritedness are just super high right now.
There is no right to privacy in public, its fairly simple

Bit loose and emotional yesterday, and lately. Gawdamned lockdown is stressing me out.
Revealed some stuff I probably regret putting in the public domain.
Really pissed off, angry and frustrated about the cameras and didn't wear it very well.
Anyway all good now had another word and they agreed to turn it around during the day and point it away until after 5 pm.
A nice compromise I can live with.
Need to tighten up my loose emotional shit.
Remind myself no one f'king cares etc.
Have a nice day all..

British Gas
leaving for another supplier - currently on fixed. ending this month.
Minor annoyance. Have to give final meter reading despite having smart meters.
First "Bill", I owe them ~£450, even after just last month paying in an extra £70 to cover more elec being used at home with kids etc per their own calculations.
Oh, no that's for the last 3 or 6 months, it's still being calculated, they've not taken into account any of my payments for the last 3-6 months.
4 days ago I get emailed final energy statement - "Nothing to pay, it says. They actually owe me ~£25" - excellent!
Yesterday, get the same email, same final bill with the same date on it - 6 March, but now I owe them £181.90? Also included 2x early exit fees of £30. despite Ofgem rule clearing stating that exit fees don't any for the last 49 days of fixed contract.
Anyhow, time to call up and get this sorted out, 25 mins in the queue,
"Good morning can I have you account number please?" "Yes, sure, it's 851...." CLICK! Disconnected.
Call back, in the queue, 22 minutes this time, then it starts to ring, but I get voicemail msg and another CLICK disconnect.
Fuck em. DD cancelled. they want any more money from me, they can call me and I'll hang-up a few times too half way through the call...

That the British Museum still won't return the Elgin Marbles !
.... and I remember someone pointing out, in a documentary, the chin/beard of the sphinx, propped up against a wall in a storeroom in the same establishment.
Tip for our English friends; if you want to do trade deals with countries; don't proclaim your right to keep historical artifacts, that you've looted from them.

Well as long as you don't complain, in the future, about how unfairly these countries; & the endless others, who've been looted; are treating the UK .....
Maybe the British should ask themselves; why it is; that the British Museum has so many exhibits, that are nothing to do with Britain ?
... or they could just rename it; the Imperial Booty Museum; & be honest about how it's contents were gathered.

It's not a personal thing; but rather my rant against "Nationalism", which should never be confused with "Patriotism". Patriotism is not defending the indefensible; that's Nationalism; & pretending that the best place for the Elgin Marbles to be shown, isn't in Greece, is indefensible.
There are ways that Museums can collaborate, & share & exchange artifacts; & pretending that the Elgin Marbles; or numerous other artifacts in the possession of the British Museum, are there thru legitimate means, rather than; looting, & theft; is offensive to anyone with a single functional brain cell.

Genuinely thinking the only way I’ll be able to have my ideal place in the country is to start a not-so-creepy-non-religious cult, get a bunch of people to sign on, get a nice chunk of land along a river or lake and we each build some small homes on it.

People whose first disposition in life is to complain. The first words out of their mouths is a moan, to the point where you're scared to ask them how they are. In social gathering they do nothing but bitch and complain about everything and everything. A cloud of negativity just follows them around. Despite a seemingly nice life, they can only ever see the downside to everything and nothing is ever good enough.

Oh, and once I send over the signed blanket work order,
then they'll look at getting it booked and will take 4-6 weeks.
