Agree. Not selecting a spinner for the Oval is going to rank with Kohli's decision to bat first at Headingley.

Not selecting a spinner? Jadeja has 223 Test wickets @25. He is #6 on the all-time India spinners list by wickets taken, with a better average (and strike rate) than 4 of the 5 people ahead of him.
The problem is the one guy ahead of him with a better average is... Ashwin.

It's a good point. In fact, it's two good points. Although Jadeja's av in Eng is v. poor.JM2K6 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 10:30 am Not selecting a spinner? Jadeja has 223 Test wickets @25. Stupid way to get out at any time. In the context of this match position and just before lunch

Chris Woakes ton to take it home. Couldn't have written a better script.
Looks like Woakes and Root think they can do this.inactionman wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 1:25 pm Chris Woakes ton to take it home. Couldn't have written a better script.
England have certainly upped the scoring rate, scoring 30 runs in the five overs since the drinks break.
They only need less than 200 runs in just under 45 overs, so they should get this in a canter.

Especially if you're shithouse England...
Was very amused at the Guardian's dude complaining that Hameed needed to hit out or get out. Who the fuck thinks this England side can manage a world record chase against India?

205/9, dammit was hoping there'd still be some cricket to watch when I got home.

That yorker to get Bairstow was an absolute peach.
A joy to watch.
Having been on the receiving end of the Barmy Army's trumpets on multiple occasions, Virat Kohli returned the favour with this gesture when India took another English wicket on the last day. I reckon it is fair enough but he has been criticised by many commentators.

Not sure "woke journalists" (cmon Enz, you're better than that) have anything to do with the idea that a cricket captain taunting the crowd is a shitty thing to do, and I say this as a fan of Kohli's aggression on the field.
Also not sure how people are "on the receiving end of trumpets" - they play a handful of boring tunes they know, they don't throw them at people

Neither did Kohli throw his ‘trumpet’ at anyone. Stop being obtuse.JM2K6 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 10:25 am Not sure "woke journalists" (cmon Enz, you're better than that) have anything to do with the idea that a cricket captain taunting the crowd is a shitty thing to do, and I say this as a fan of Kohli's aggression on the field.

Watching the Bangladesh vs BCs T20 and there was probably the worst review of an umpire’s decision in history.

In my experience, the people on the receiving end of the trumpets are other crowd members. Shits on your day out if there's someone two seats away playing a shit trumpet really badly for seven hours.JM2K6 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 10:25 am Not sure "woke journalists" (cmon Enz, you're better than that) have anything to do with the idea that a cricket captain taunting the crowd is a shitty thing to do, and I say this as a fan of Kohli's aggression on the field.

Although we are missing a couple of our big boys - we have been pretty rubbish on this tour.
Not really sure if CDG could play any worse......maybe the mullet needs to go?
But in saying all that - how do these pitches benefit Bangladesh in any way? Absolute bunsen burners that they won't find the likes of anywhere else except maybe in a couple of grounds in India. It is like they are sacrificing their international record to cement their home record. And feckin' hell it is cricket by way of drudgery.

Yeah I agree. Sri Lanka served our Proteas a similar pitch yesterday, was variable bounce and plumes of dust from the 1st over of spin was bowled.Thor Sedan wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 11:04 am Although we are missing a couple of our big boys - we have been pretty rubbish on this tour.

In contrast, that's precisely why I dislike him. He's a football chav in white flannels.JM2K6 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 10:25 am Not sure "woke journalists" (cmon Enz, you're better than that) have anything to do with the idea that a cricket captain taunting the crowd is a shitty thing to do, and I say this as a fan of Kohli's aggression on the field.

It's not as irritating as having to listen to "Barmy Army" for 7 hours.Biffer wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 10:57 amIn my experience, the people on the receiving end of the trumpets are other crowd members.
