When your enforcer lock has a manbun you know you're in trouble.
I have met Gerbrandt. Very nice guy. That was before his surfer bun look.

Reniel Hugo is from Bellville and went to Paul Roos gim - Stellies Uni. Started his youth career at WP in 2008 and played for them to 2011
Gerbrandt Grobler is from Nelspruit and went to Affies but only played for the Bulls for one year as a youth and then relocated to WP and played for them from 2011 to 2014
So basically both WP products.
Yeah, you know the saaks have trouble at lock when they buy WP throw aways.

Reniel is a good aerial lock. He was more Maties then WP, like Jacobie Adriaanse. Studies was first priority.

When you have the budget of the saaks, you don't have to buy players such as Grobler and Hugo. You can afford superstars.

You know they don't grow on trees? There's only so many out there and most of them are playing in Europe. So you wait and play fillers until one wants to come back.
WP has Marvellous Marvin, and Adre Smith who you bought from the Kwas via the Bulls were he played mostly flank. Hardly a world beater lock.

Our great white hope JJ van der Mescht did the chicken run to France where he seems to have disappeared into obscurity. He always looked like he'd have an issue with conditioning (probably looks like 2022 Kobus Wiese now). Tucking into that delicious French cuisine like the fat greedy chap he is. Hopefully he sees the light (and a Banting diet) and returns to KZN to form the core of a world beating Sharks pack and a Springbok stalwart.

They play in Europe and Japan because of the money. With the saaks full of cash, I don't see what's the issue.
Not sure why you need to bring up the Stormers/WP locks, when we are discussing the saaks team?

They may report the various reasons in the media, but it's mostly the money. These guys have a short career, so they have to make the most of it.
Boet, you need to relax. The saaks team was listed and I made a comment about the locks, an issue which I've brought up before as the saaks is a super team, but quite light at lock.
When the Stormers are listed and you want to have a go at them, have at it boet and we can have a nice discussion. I have a lot of time for people that want to learn about rugby, better late than never.
BTW, I see you've flip-flopped to the saaks. Sards-like. Nice........

I've not flopped anywhere. I will from time to time stand up for players that plays provincially being criticized by someone that got told in standard three that he's to kleinserig to play, regardless what team they play for.

Like I posted earlier, Hugo never was really a WP product, he was a Stellenboscher, Paul Roos and Maties and went like many Maties to the Cheetahs/Griekwas. Gerbrandt had a long time injury at the Stormers and got better opportunities.
