Got my booster on Friday.

My body seems to still be crawling with anti-bodies from my December omicron infection, because it went nuclear on Saturday
Body aches, headache, fever, shivers...the works. Seems my immune system is still nicely primed for the next variant.

Much better by Sunday and spent the day at the beach.

Good news coming

N24
Could Ramaphosa scrap the wearing of masks?

The President’s Coordinating Council has heard proposals to scrap the wearing of masks outdoors and allow sports stadiums to accommodate bigger crowds.

On Tuesday morning, President Cyril Ramaphosa met with premiers and the mayors of all major cities to devise a strategy in the country’s fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Impeccable sources have told News24 that proposals were heard for outdoor mask-wearing to be dropped. Mask-wearing would still apply when in an indoor public space. The facility or building would need to be well ventilated.

Awesome news. So a 50k stadium can fill 25l if proof of vaccination done. Simple. Book online and give your vaccination number.

Yeah great news, though you do not book with your vaccination number. You take your vac certificate with you to the stadium and it gets checked at the gates. So as long as you keep a copy on your phone it is all good. That is how they checked us at Loftus.

After keeping the country under lockdown for 750 days, President Cyril Ramaphosa on Monday announced the end of the national state of disaster - from midnight.

Ramaphosa said the declaration of the national state of disaster on 15 March 2020 had empowered the government to take measures which prevented many people from becoming severely ill and it saved countless lives.

During the third wave in July last year, the highest average daily number of Covid-19-related deaths recorded was 420.

"In the fourth wave, in February this year, the highest daily number of deaths was 240. In the past week, this number has dropped to just 12. We see a similar pattern in our health facilities.

"Of the 108 000 regular beds in the country, only 1 805 are currently occupied by Covid-19 patients. Of the 5 600 ICU beds in the country, only 175 are occupied by Covid-19 patients."

FULL SPEECH | Goodbye, lockdown! Ramaphosa announces an end to the state of disaster

Ramaphosa, however, said people were still required to wear a face mask in an indoor public space.

"A mask is not required when outdoors. Indoor and outdoor venues can take up to 50% of their capacity, provided that proof of vaccination or a Covid-19 test not older than 72 hours is required to enter the venue.

"Where there is no provision for proof of vaccination or a Covid-19 test, then the current upper limit of 1 000 people indoors and 2 000 people outdoors will remain."

Ramaphosa said the existing provisions of international travel remained in place. Travellers entering South Africa would need to show proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test not older than 72 hours.

"If a traveller does not submit a vaccine certificate or proof of a negative Covid-19 test, they will be required to do an antigen test on arrival. If they test positive for Covid-19, they will need to isolate for 10 days.

"The directions that provide for the special R350 social relief of distress grant payment will remain in place.

"… it is a moment to remember those who lost their lives and many still struggling with the effects of the disease."

Ramaphosa paid tribute to the healthcare workers, police, soldiers, volunteers and other frontline workers for their dedication and service during the pandemic.

"The end of the national state of disaster is a firm statement of our determination to live our lives and rebuild our country even as this virus remains in our midst. It should give us the confidence to return to the lives we led before the pandemic, with a few simple adjustments to protect those around us.

"It should provide our businesses with certainty that they can operate and invest without the prospect of further restrictions. Importantly, by ending the national state of disaster, we are each taking more individual responsibility for protecting our health and the health of others."

Ramaphosa said the government continued to remain cautious.

"… we can be confident that we are in a better position now than we have been at any other time over the last 750 days. We are hopeful that the worst is behind us, and we are confident that there are only better days ahead. Now is the time to grow our economy and create jobs," he said

Great news that it was lifted at last. I think remaining restrictions like indoor masks and 50% capacity will also fall away after another month. So full capacity when the tests start in the winter

Had my booster jab a couple of weeks ago. Completely knocked me for 6, I was ill for a week afterwards. Went to the doc for all sorts of tests, but all indications were that it was just the side effects. Much worse than when I actually had covid in December. Glad to have it done, but bloody hell

I was very lucky with the initial jabs as well as the booster that the worst I had to go through was a sore arm for a day or 2. Which was strange for me because normal flu jabs hit me hard in that I feel like I have the worst flu afterwards so tend to never take them as I rarely get flu anyway. But somehow I handled the covid jabs well.

Nah The omni version was mild. I didn't even test. This is pretty much the same symptoms. Nothing a good relaxing weekend won't solve. If I don't post in the next month I am gone. And was wrong.

Refuse to add to the statistics over something as mild as a winter cold

Just to a rapid test so that you know, and you can advise people you were in contact with recently.

I agree it's mild, but it's still killed over 100,000 South Africans.

I am not seeing clients this week. 7 days isolation bar a few hours at work every day is fine. Dude...Clients and suppliers get it recurring constantly. With kids its always around. A couple of days ( sumptoms vary .... for me its a deep sense of exhaustion , nasal drip and a headache to start......a few days and all back to normal. If I had to isolate completely every time it would be a month off my year.....semi isolation ....keep away from clients and friends. Its just another cold dude. Like we all get every year. I reckon its the flu vaccines we get every year. Its really mild.

Our infection rate here has been less than 0.5% for the last three months. I can't even remember the last time I wore a mask.
