For me, drop a scrummie and take 1 of Johan Goosen or Robert du Preez. At least another option at flyhalf/fullback.
Only Libbok as flyhalf is absolute insanity. I get the feeling we are going to be crying after this RWC.

Organised into how I think they'll be used. There must be a lot of backs they're thinking of using in new positions. Four wings and four scrumhalfs, doesn't work if they're all used in those positions only. Guessing Moodie is covering more than wing, but cannot guess on the others, Kolbe maybe because he has played 15.
Loosehead: Kitshoff, Ox Nche
Hooker: Marx, Mbonambi
Tighthead: Malherbe, Koch
Utility prop: Nyakane
4 Lock: Etzebeth, Snyman
5 Lock: Orie, Kleyn
Openside: Kolisi (captain), Van Staden
Eightman: Vermeulen, Wiese
Blindside: Pieter-Steph du Toit
Utility forward: Mostert (5 lock/blindside), Deon Fourie (hooker/backrow), Smith (backrow)
Scrumhalf: Faf, Hendrikse, Reinach, Williams
Flyhalf: Libbok
Wing: Mapimpi, Kolbe, Arendse
Inside centre: De Allende, Esterhuizen
Outside centre: Kriel
Fullback: Le Roux
Utility back: Willemse (flyhalf/fullback), Moodie (wing/13/15)
Looking very light in a few positions.

All I can say oom, is I hope I find a boss who backs me as much as Libbok has been backed here.
Rassie and Nienaber aren't going to die wondering. 2 hookers, 1 specialist blindside, 4 scrummies, 1 specialist flyhalf, 4 wings, 1 specialist 13 who also plays wing, 1 specialist fullback ... all the chips pushed in on that, going all fucking in on that.
Scary levels of faith.

Ok, so out of our crippled RWC 33, which is the first choice 23 that you would pick
01 Kitshoff
02 Marx

05 RG Snyman
06 Kolisi
07 PSdT
08 Vermeulen
09 Faf

For me it's quite close to the one I posted that I think they'll pick.
1. Kitshoff
2. Marx
3. Malherbe
4. Etzebeth
5. Snyman
6. Kolisi (captain)
7. Pieter-Steph du Toit
8. Vermeulen
9. Faf
10. Willemse
11. Mapimpi
12. Esterhuizen
13. Kriel
14. Kolbe
15. Le Roux
16. Mbonambi
17. Ox
18. Koch
19. Mostert
20. Smith
21. Van Staden
22. Hendrikse/Reinach
23. Moodie
My bomb squad would work by replacing the props which is worth it just for fresh legs in the scrum, maybe leave Marx on depending how he's going. Moving Pieter-Steph to lock and taking Snyman off, Kolisi and Vermeulen are also replaced, and an entire new backrow comes on. Etzebeth finishes the match as captain and along with Pieter-Steph and maybe Marx are the forwards who go the full 80, they're beasts and each worth two men. Bench backs may go unused in my side.

Tell us Stormers supporters about it. He missed that easy kicks but fuck know he and Willemse can lit up a backline. Our outside backs understand and love a bit of space. Even Kriel shine in midffield with them. We just need Faf & kie to give him quick service and stop that horrible box kicking.

Apparently Faf has played 10 a few times for his Japanese team.
But there is no way that is even close to coming up against the likes of Mo'unga, Farrell, Russel.
I think I'd prefer to see Willie at 10 and Willemse at 15 if anything happens to Libbok.

Not sure why as he is a ridiculous talent, but perhaps unlucky to fall behind the DdA, Am, Estherhuizen, Kreil selections of the last 6 years.

He played 10 for Sale a few times too if I'm not mistaken. It's the only logical explanation I have for them picking 4 scrummies. He's also earmarked to cover 10 and (bar Willemse) they are short an out and out 12 so they'll basically do a sideways shuffle with the backline when replacements have to come on. Look, he's a bit small but he's a terrier. He's a strong defender and he can still wrap around from 10. As a 9 he must be able to distribute. He's an accurate kicker, he might not have huge range but who does in this squad?
I won't be surprised if we see him play 10 a few times.

He must have pissed off somebody at SARU. I am asking about him since 2016. He is playing great Rugby for Montpellier for years, can play both 12 and 13. It is not understandable that he isnt considered given how slim our 13 options are.

Or he just opted out. People always think selection is a one-sided discussion. They can't imagine that a player doesn't want to play for their country. They can ask you if you don't want to, they can't force you.
There can be a lot of reasons why a player decides to opt out.
He might not want to play for the Boks for personal reasons.
He might not like their management style, he might feel their game plan does not suite him.
He might feel they force him to play in a position or in a way where he can't express himself or that they're not paying him enough for his services.

Anyway. My excitement has really kicked in about the WC.
I was listening to a BBC rugby podcast, and they were talking about the the Boks, and how more than any other team they can generate emotional energy which came through our squad announcement (at least to them).
It got me thinking how we always seem to thrive in adversity. SA is burning, our captain and two best players are injured, pool of death, etc., etc.
But if our forwards can get fired up, we can fuck shit up like no other team.

Can someone explain all that is said in this article. I dont really get it. Handre will be fit in 2 or 3 weeks, Am has a 2 to 4 week injury?! Why didnt they just include them then in the RWC squad?? How easy can they be drafted into the squad from that standby list? What does Nienaber mean with "If a player does something to deselect themselves, or they do something weird, which is in their hands, but I don’t think that will happen."

They weren't selected so can only be called up if someone gets injured or screws the physio again. They can take them with for the two warm up games, but they won't be fit to play. Perhaps, like me they don't fully trust in the alternative's abilities. Or they want them around as mentors. If they went with the team they're there for the duration. Makes no sense flying them back after the warm ups.
