A week old but Northumbria university had 700 cases but only 70 with symptoms:.

I can't imagine it's very different at Newcastle or any university.

Reports from a number of Unis that they’re having “positive” parties for all those that have tested positive.

I’ve absolutely no evidence but I’m pretty sure they are responsible for the big increase in Edinburgh.

I’m particularly worried about the numbers of students walking around with face masks on outside. My suspicion is they have it with no or mild symptoms and think this is OK
Theres 250 confirmed cases in Newington and Dalkeith Road neighbourhood in the last week, which is where Pollock Halls are, and another 178 in the adjacent meadows, marchmont and old town areas. That’s 428 out of 798 in the seven days to 6th October.

Population of Newington and Dalkeith Road is about 6500, so that’s around 4% of the population infected in a week. Other areas mentioned is about 24,400. So that’s 428 cases in a population of about 31,000 or 1380 cases per 100,000, and 370 cases in the remaining 450,000 or so which is 82 cases per 100,000. The latter cases per 100,000 is still worryingly high.

So it looks like students are a significant contributor, but we can’t just think it’s all them.
Not all them, but undeniably a huge rise since they arrived. There were 2 separate student house parties at the end of my road last night and about 6 pissed up large groups wandering around just before 10.

A lot of them don't give a shit.

Loads. My sister-in-law works for a dentist practice in Kent. Her boss claimed furlough while the staff were in the office and being paid their salaries. When the staff questioned it, they were threatened with sacking.

There’s plenty of places to report this. Considering you grass on going for a pint reporting an actual crime shouldn’t be difficult.

Supporting criminals because you benefit isn’t much of an argument. And the absolute opposite is true, I do think government debt matters and constantly say so.

I’m still not sure what point is being made. If it’s that some of the 15,000 “open” signatures aren’t genuine then “of course”, still not sure that invalidates the whole thing though.

Ontario now posting bigger daily numbers than in spring!
The Ford government is implementing new restrictions in Toronto, Peel Region and Ottawa after the province reported 939 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday. The restrictions will prohibit indoor dining at restaurants and bars, while gyms, movie theatres and casinos will be ordered to close. The new measures will come into effect on Saturday and will last at least 28 days.
I reckon those will rocket up next week as it's Thanksgiving this weekend and they've urged people not to gather, but aren't enforcing as far as I know.
