So, the whole 25th amendment thing - I have it in my head that it’s specifically the Vice President that has to chair the debate in the senate, so if he’d called A25 before finishing the debate, he’d have to appoint another VP, get them to chair it and it might be challenged because two different men chaired the debate. So it needs to wait until after the debate to declare A25.

Have to say I’m a little entertained about all this political action going on live on TV and Trump is sitting in the whitehouse unable to tweet for twelve hours. He’ll be shouting at a lot of minions.

I refuse to watch Lemon. Fox is actually broadcasting it without any commentary at all.

It’s just been revealed that Rudy fucked up again:

Rudy Giuliani yesterday evening committed another cell-phone slip-up, leaving a voice message apparently meant for freshman Republican Alabama senator Tommy Tuberville on someone else’s phone. The message has been published.

In the message, Giuliani encourages “Tuberville” to object to “every state” in order to prolong the current process. As demonstrated in the failed effort to object to the Michigan result, no objection in this process stands if it is not joined by a senator in writing.

Tuberville joined objections to both the Arizona and Pennsylvania results but not others. He must not have... gotten the message.

So even after the assault on the Capitol, Trump’s lieutenants are still trying to disrupt Biden’s election.

He can't tweet it himself, because the stream of bile ,& hatred, & lies , has been temporarily stopped.

But it's not enough to just commit to something he should have done from the start; he has to admit the lie of election fraud.

If he won't; he has to be removed immediately !

The Washington Post, and many others, are calling for his removal:

"The president is unfit to remain in office for the next 14 days. Every second he retains the vast powers of the presidency is a threat to public order and national security. Vice President Pence, who had to be whisked off the Senate floor for his own protection, should immediately gather the Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment, declaring that Mr. Trump is “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.” Congress, which would be required to ratify the action if Mr. Trump resisted, should do so. Mr. Pence should serve until President-elect Joe Biden is inaugurated on Jan. 20."

I probably should have added a /s.

From the Beeb
Pottinger, said he was "dismayed by the attack on the Capitol and Trump's incitement of protesters
. It's the equivalent of crocodile tears, these people knew who they were working for, while they might not have anticipated the extent to which some of the bases have invested a cultist devotion into Trump, if they're genuinely surprised by this and by Mango Mussolini's egging it on, then they're too stupid to be anywhere near high level politics. They're not though, they're amoral chancers hoping they can dodge consequences of their actions.

The thing that gets me is why are some of these seemingly well educated folk in senior positions still supporting Trump after all this? For me it can only be because Trump has so much dirt on them and has been using it to ensure they did his bidding. They are more scared of what is going to come out than ruining their political ambitions. Ok - one or two might have been suckered into all the hype and one or two might want to take over the Trump mantle but I suspect the overwhelming majority are just shit scared of the man and what he is capable of. It will be really interesting to see what shit emerges over the next few weeks and months and you can bet your bottom dollar that Trump will try and drag them all down with him, he will have no problem in throwing a few to the wolves to save his own skin. Many will stick with him in the hope of a pardon but Trump wont save others and watch himself going down! The concrete wellies will be on everyone.

The even bigger question is who has what dirt on Trump? There will be the inevitable court cases, led by NY over his finances and alleged rape but once he is of no longer any use to possible 'foreign interests' then it will be interesting to see what they do with him. His handler Melania will have a big role here. He is obviously shitting himself big style and I don't think it is about tax avoidance, he has been there before and can stall that type of issue for years. I suspect the Steele dossier is probably pretty close to the truth - I look forward to the pee tapes suddenly appearing on YouTube!

It's an interesting point and I'd say there is also a part of me that actually wants some competent people working for morons like Trump. He's the president and is going to serve a 4 year term so there's an argument for having people doing what hey can.

Pottinger is an interesting case. He gets a very sympathetic write up in this excellent New Yorker piece on the pandemic

I think this is overthinking it. They just want to hold on to their cushy jobs and not go back to the real world. If they think Trump is the best way to get votes they will stick with him, if not, they won't. I don't think he has any particular cunning plan or dirt, he is just a cunt who has no problem destroying lives, careers and reputations.

A Republican Senator rang BBC and said that anyone who goes against Trump not only has their own career to worry about, but that of their family and even friends too. He's a vindictive cnut.
