The high court on Tuesday decided that Vardy must pay 90% of Rooney’s court costs, a larger proportion than in many equivalent cases. The judge imposed the punitive charge partly because Vardy deliberately destroyed WhatsApp messages and other evidence relevant to the trial.
As a result Vardy will have to hand over £800,000 immediately to Rooney, with further payments to follow, up to around £1.5m. On top of this, Vardy will have to pay her own legal costs, which could bring her combined bill to well over £3m.
The gift that keeps on giving. You'd think the silly cow would have gotten the message by now.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4g53vxjlpjoThe so-called Wagatha Christie dispute has gone back to the High Court, with Rebekah Vardy challenging the "sheer magnitude" of the legal costs claimed by Coleen Rooney from their 2022 libel trial.
Mrs Vardy lost that case after a judge ruled it was "substantially true" that she had leaked Mrs Rooney's private information to the press.
The judge ordered her to pay 90% of Mrs Rooney's costs, which were originally said to be less than £1.7m. Mrs Rooney now claims her legal bill reached more than £1.8m, including some "extraordinary" costs, Mrs Vardy's lawyer said.
Mrs Rooney's barrister argued the costs could have been lower if Mrs Vardy had "conducted this litigation appropriately".

Lawyers' fees do need to be capped, it's beyond mad what they're asking for.fishfoodie wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 12:37 pmSaintK wrote: ↑Tue Oct 04, 2022 4:55 pmProbably a bit longer given this ccosts judgement todayRebekah Vardy will have to pay around £1.5m to Coleen Rooney in legal fees after losing yet another stage in the “Wagatha Christie” libel trial.

But you are entirely correct that this is totally self-inflicted and she's just digging a deeper hole. No-one gave a shit over the initial silly spat, hardly anyone outside of Hello readers knew who she was, now everyone knows she's the idiot who leaked some gossip then lied about it and ultimately made a tit of herself in court.
Not the brightest spark.
eta: this is magnificent though:
Mrs Vardy went on to trademark the phrase "Wagatha Christie" after losing.

Yeah, some of the things claimed on expenses are just taking the piss. No sympathy for Vardy but I hope she has some success here.

She, or rather her thicko husband are now spending £100ks more in a new action to stop them from having to pay a lesser amount in the original damages.
It's stupidity & ego, & I expect the Court to give them short shrift
Guys at my work are writing the Observatory Management Software for SKA. We had an antenna upstairs last week for our open days, not sure if it's still there. The amount of data it'll produce is astonishing - up to 15 Exabytes a day. That's 15,000,000,000 Gigabytes. Every day. Those computers ain't processing that, let's face it nothing is, so there are heuristics that will strip off most of the data and not even record it before it even gets to being recorded, never mind processed.
And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?

that's an insane amount of data.
I like this story, I was living in WA when the project was first announced and seeing the reality of it is awesome, not to mention the feelgood factor of seeing traditional owners actively involved.
The Judge has decided that Rooney's lawyers did not commit misconduct and were not misleading with regard to costs, so Vardy's case looks even more hopeless than before.Blackmac wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 6:28 pminactionman wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 12:46 pmLawyers' fees do need to be capped, it's beyond mad what they're asking for.fishfoodie wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 12:37 pm

And, surprise surprise, her allegations about excessive expenses claims turn out not to be true. Rooney's solicitor's stay at the Nobu hotel was not as expensive as Vardy's team alleged. He only moved there when the more modest hotel originally booked didn't have working wifi and the room was obtained for him by Rooney's Agent at preferential rates with a 50+% discount (£295 instead of £600+) while the minibar tab was £7 for 2 bottles of water, not the £225 Vardy claimed in the Sun.
Yesterday (in 1967) NZ grew up a little and ended what we termed the "6 o'clock swill". Pub closing times changed from 6pm to 10pm.
Clubs etc could get individual licences for later closing but most remained at 10pm for about 20 more years.

Glazer, that fine figure of a bear is this years winner !
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cvgl0k9px67oThe winner of Fat Bear Week has finally been crowned - and she's no stranger to the title.
Voters chose 128 Grazer, a mother bear who won Fat Bear Week last year, and whose cub was recently killed by her last remaining opponent in the competition, 32 Chunk.
Yeah, you have to wonder how shit her legal team is when they are making such completely unsubstantiated claims and just hoping for the best.Lobby wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2024 9:45 amThe Judge has decided that Rooney's lawyers did not commit misconduct and were not misleading with regard to costs, so Vardy's case looks even more hopeless than before.Blackmac wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 6:28 pminactionman wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 12:46 pm

Top German neo-Nazi plummets 200 feet to his death while hiking on Hitler’s favorite mountain
It was a view to die for.
A top German neo-Nazi plummeted nearly 200 feet to his death while hiking on what is believed to be Adolf Hitler’s favorite mountain.
Andreas Münzhuber, 37, a senior member of the Bavaria faction of neo-Nazi group The Third Way, was climbing Untersberg mountain on a 30-person tour when he tripped on an exposed wet root and fell 196 feet down rocky terrain to his death on Sept. 29, German news outlets reported.

Oregon police find bag full of drugs marked ‘definitely not a bag full of drugs’

I came across this in the NZ Herald and automatically checked that is wasn't 1 April. I wonder if he minds that a half-Japanese worker prepared the equipment for the operation and that a mixture of Asian and Polynesian staff will be preparing the food he eats. They should have kicked him out of the hospital.

Yep, the racist prick should've been invited to find himself a different hospital more to his liking. And assuming he needed some donated blood at some stage, he'll have to find somewhere that vets their blood donors by race as well.Kiwias wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2024 12:45 am I came across this in the NZ Herald and automatically checked that is wasn't 1 April. My son, who works at NSH, reckons that they should have put a wee note with each of his meals explaining that it was prepared by Asians, or that he be told he can't be served any food or have his room cleaned because Asians are a significant % of the hospital staff and they refused to look after the racist scumbag.Gumboot wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2024 1:21 amYep, the racist prick should've been invited to find himself a different hospital more to his liking. Surprised we haven't seen more of it in US. SCOTUS would probably enshrine it in law.
