7 new cases in WA overnight, all are foreign sailors aboard a ship at Port Headland.

Edit: One thing I have noticed is that in terms of announcing their daily covid-19 there is a big disparity between the states. Victoria's data comes out first, around 8-8.39am. QLD's data emerges 2nd around 9am and NSW comes out around 10am. WA is really tardy, even taking into account the timezone. It comes out between 4-6pm EST.

A lot of talk about among the political set regarding trans Tasman travel again over the last couple of days. It seems that the Federal govt has accepted the idea of different regions employing different international access instead of the one border approach they insisted on a few months ago.

October 19 is the date my fellow Victorians and I are eagerly awaiting. While some restrictions have eased from today, on 19 October hospo will be back in action with outdoor service only. That is, if the current trend downwards continues.

If the general public was given a vote for the future direction of the battle against Covid, would it be in favour of controlling the outbreaks or eradication?

I think controlling, because eradication is very hard to do. But controlling 'Australian' style, which means very low numbers of daily infections (5-10 per day nationally).

I don't think Australia's CBD's will ever return to their pre-covid normal. Not for health reasons, but for economic reasons. It is cheaper for employees to work from home, and less time is wasted commuting to and from work.

Most companies have realised that this is the case ans productivity hasn't dipped.

A lot of the "Must be in the office to be working" Middle-managers were made redundant as well.

Local shops and cafes are doing a roaring trade

Eventually, a lot of office blocks will be converted to Units - the block I moved a company into only have 4 years before that happens

If the data is too believed, there is very little covid-19 in Australia. I hope they are correct but I am also worried that there is much more of the virus in the community than we are aware of.

There's only 700 odd NZers in St Kilda, and we don't know how many of them were actually raised in Australia, so should be considered Australians. There's less Irish.

A more detailed look at the current state of play here in Aust. Just 286 total active cases is very pleasing, as is only 46 cases currently in hospital.
