What a shambles by immigration, and the political interference has been ridiculous. He’s now a martyr.
The one I feel for is the Czech girl. Was allowed in, and then because of political interference and trying to be consistent was then booted.

This article was posted on the other site. It's an interesting look into the Australian Psyche and why their public opinion was overwhelmingly against him. Which also meant there was no way the government would allow him to stay.

Admittedly she wasn’t reported as failing isolate like him. But that was non Aus jurisdiction, and certainly wasn’t an item when he first had his visa cancelled.

It was all about protecting the health of the Australian public from the disease ridden Djokovic and to prevent him inciting the 5% of unvaccinated Australias. Arguably the same reasoning could apply to VoracovaTravel form error not being argued by government
Last week, much was made of Djokovic's error on his travel entry form into Australia. But the government is not using that error in its legal argument.
The error has "neutral" bearing on whether he's a risk to Australian public, the government has said.
In his letter to Djokovic cancelling his visa, Immigration Minister Alex Hawke said he accepted the tennis player's explanation for the false declaration. Djokovic said his agent had made the mistake on the paperwork and hadn't checked travel details with him.
"Mr Djokovic should have been more careful," Mr Hawke said.

You have to feel for Murray. Injury struck him down just as he finally got to No 1 and looked as if he might nick a couple of more Grand Slams. U Unfortunately watching him now is sad. Scrambling around tournaments with wild cards and getting the odd win against nobodies cannot be good for his mental or physical health. He has a young family at home and a great legacy, he should surely just give it up.

The thing which really separated him from peers was his drive and determination, which is probably a negative at this stage - can't give it up. Although I find his style ungainly I've been increasingly impressed by his character (and strength of character), standing up for women in tennis etc, but think this obstinacy isn't always beneficial.Blackmac wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 12:00 pm You have to feel for Murray. He's had hip injuries that cause him pain and which required pretty serious surgery, time to put feet up unless he can develop a less impactful style - which is unlikely to be successful as he's not the shotmaker others at his level are. His style was never going to give him as long a shelf life as someone like Federer - although Federer has had to cope with slight loss of his agile quickness, his game is much more about shotmaking than Murray's chase it down and counterpunch.
On that note - Federer is 40. Blimey.

Good post Inaction. Agree with it all, especially first paragraph. I have always been a Murray 'disliker'. Just didn't like his play, mannerisms, fucking mother, his appearance and the way he carried himself. But as the last year or so has gone on I've found myself sympathising with him a bit, and watching a bit more of his matches. I think this one last year playing a full schedule might be it, but only his body will tell him. Pity ER lost last night. Am hoping she can settle in to the tour a bit, but she will certainly have a drop before she finds her correct ranking. Suspect between 40-50 at years end - which is fine I think.
