Lovely to wake up to this scorecard.
I watched some of the highlights and Boult's line and length was something to behold in those first 10 overs. So much late swing.
I hope NZ force the follow on - they need to try and get Bangladesh out as quickly as possible with Wednesday likely to either be stop and start or washed out.
It would be amazing for Taylor to get himself a ton in the second innings - but the likelihood of that is pretty unlikely given the state of the game and Taylors current form.
He will always be one of NZ's great - in the same sentence as Crowe and Turner (and undoubtedly KW when he retires).

Couple of questions that have been bugging me.
The crowds at the Ashes were quite small, was thins due to COVID restrictions?
Why did Smith bowl that last over? Actually a genuine question, seemed a bit mental.

Smith bowled as they deemed it too dark to bowl the quicks.
Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot, But he'll remember with advantages, What feats he did that day
ahh OK, didn't know that. Why not Lyon then?Paddington Bear wrote: ↑Mon Jan 10, 2022 3:43 pm Smith bowled as they deemed it too dark to bowl the quicks.

Latham’s ability at keeper and the slips is impressive. Having kept 90%+ of my time playing I found the few times at slip hard - a different angle and needing to watch the edge rather than a view as the bowler came in. Maybe it’s easier being mostly in the field and moving to keep* but Latham does it very well.
* Latham having a considerable amount of extra skill probably helps too.

He has a test average of 24. Here he is weaving some magic in India (Will Somerville take note).

Cricket just keeps delivering magic moments.
Magnificent comeback from the dire performance last time out. Latham's double, Conway's 3rd century in 5 tests, Boult's 9th Michelle and 300 wickets......and then Taylor bags the match winning wicket in his last test......Test cricket must never be replaced.
But also - that innings from Das was outstanding - as was the respect that the Bangladeshis offered Ross throughout this test.
My mate was at the first 2 days and shared numerous photos of how great it is to watch Test cricket on the old grassy banks. Whether it be Hagley, the Basin or Bloemfontein. Brilliant days out to be had.
