Shit, if that is real, Israel will strike back - will they go against the military or civilians though?

Bibi is mad enough to attack nuclear facilities again. This time setting off a chain reaction of violence across the region and proably further afield.

Jordan and the US destroyers in the area intercepted multiple missiles. The USS Arleigh Burke, USS Cole, and USS Bulkeley are currently in the area.

There is also a US carrier group near Iran with another about a day away

Why are USA getting themselves so dragged into this, is it just domestic politics?

I think the Iranians learnt their lessons & have moved the critical stuff underground after previous attacks; plus as you infer, once you attack the Iranian strategic sites, you invite counter-attacks on your own nuclear facilities, & if Bibi is reckless enough to, assume they'll be safe, he really has gone off the deep end !

One successful drone attack on Netanya would be catastrophic !

If things get really out of hand, there's nothing stopping the Iranians from swapping out the explosive warhead of one of these missiles that are getting intercepted over Tel Aviv for one that makes it a dirty bomb, because dog knows they've plenty of shit that they can use & have from their centrifuges, but if they do, it'll just feed another level of escalation.

If the Israelis bomb the Iranian Caspian port infrastructure it would be ace, but they're unlikely to do so cos they are scared of pissing off the Russians. This Iranian missile attack also seems a bit performative, with it being telegraphed in advance and taking place at night. The Israeli response might be somewhat tempered

That would be ace? Fuck me!

What would be ace would be if the US sat the Israelis down and told them that this path is unsustainable and will not result in long term security for Israel or the wider region.

Seriously bombing is ace? Fuck me I don’t know what to say, how many people have had their lives destroyed already? More bombing will help how?

I’ve asked the same question all the way through how the fuck is this going to help Israel in the longer term?

It would mean the Iranians would not be able to, or at least severely restrict their ability to, export shaheed drones and ballistic missiles to Russia. Missiles and drones which the Russian use to attack hospitals, playgrounds, shopping malls, apartment complexes etc. , killing Ukrainian women and children. So yeah, it would be fucking ace.

What would be even better is if the Israelis could assassinate the mas murdering fuck who is the Supreme Leader of Iran. The guy who posted a picture of Israelis being murdered during October 7th, mocking them. The guy whose government piped in poison gas into girls’ schools when they protested, the guy who if you “insult” gets you sent to person and murdered. That would also be fucking ace

Some of the outraged comments coming from Israel would be hilarious if they weren't so awful.

It looks like the damage done by the Iranian missiles has been played down quite a bit and that the IDF are having a tough time of it over the border.

IIRC they withdrew from several areas that would potentialy be in the way of an Israelis advance, so there would most likely be some agreement between them and Israel to avoid each other

Is that sustainable from the point of view of the Lebanese people? Fair enough if Hezbollah are lobbing rockets and getting themselves blown up, but an actual invasion you would think would be a decent reason for an army to get involved. All of course caveated by the fact it's a unique situation and country

I’d imagine they know they’re outmatched, probably want rid of Hezbollah, and standing well back and letting the two fight it out whilst maintaining their strength for the probably inevitable civil war after the Israelis pull out is the smart play

Hezbollah outgun the Lebanese army by a significant amount and in their areas, they'll have the advantage of not having to engage in a conventional fashion.

They are separate entities at this stage. Chances of a unified Lebanon ended a long time ago.

During the 1982 invasion which was a proper large scale one, not like what is happening at the moment, there were no clashes between the lebanese army (such as it was) and the israelis. As much as the lebanese might hate the israelis, hezbollah has murdered a large number of lebanese and are hated by many.

also no direct clashes between the LAB and Israel during the 2006 war

Out of all the carnage that is the middle east. there is this

On September 3, The Jerusalem Post published the story of M., a Yazidi woman who was kidnapped from her home in Sinjar, Iraq, as an 11-year-old girl in 2014, forced to marry a Palestinian ISIS fighter, and then lured into Gaza, where she was subject to torture from her husband’s family, stranded and far from her family for years.

The Post can now confirm that following rigorous bureaucratic and diplomatic procedures and several failed attempts, M. has finally managed to leave the Gaza Strip. She is being treated at an American facility in the region and is making her way back to her family.

Steve Maman, the Canadian Jewish businessman popularly nicknamed “The Jewish Schindler” for his actions to rescue and aid thousands of Yazidis from ISIS captivity, pushed efforts behind the scenes. He described his feelings in a conversation with the Post.

“I’m feeling tired; this has been the most difficult rescue that I’ve ever taken part in. Many interactions were critical and hurtful, but the success of the mission is what heals you from these attacks. This, for me, is a ray of light. M. has a chance to rebuild her life. She was 11 years old when they took her, and no child chooses at that age to become a hostage at the hands of ISIS-Hamas.

This is what I would’ve done for anyone else, regardless of their religion, and this is what makes us special as Jews – we are able to look beyond the dry politics of a national who’s technically from a country that hates us and see the human aspect of life. We’re willing to help all people succeed.

I must thank the US government, my contacts in the US, Iraq, Jordan, and Israel. I also want to thank Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Biden and the US administration, the UN, who helped by sending a secured ambulance, and everyone else who was involved in this operation. This is a happy occasion, but I can’t say I can celebrate wholeheartedly because I still have over 100 brothers and sisters sitting in dire situations in Gaza, and I will continue to act for their return in whichever way I can.”
