Interesting interview with the ex-Luftwaffe Lt General who was responsible for integrating East German MiG-29s into the Bundeswehr.

Pistorius has confirmed over 100 Ukrainian tankers started Leopard 1 training this week. That tallies with the timetable of 25ish Leopard 1A5s being delivered to Ukraine by end of May/start of June. The Danes pulled six operational tanks out of museums and asked some veterans to spend a few weeks refreshing themselves on them before training the Ukrainians.

The Czechs are currently training Ukrainian mechanized infantry by 700 troop increments over 5 week periods. Basically a full battalion every 35 days.

In Odessa at the moment, a guy in shabby suit asked me to take a picture of him at the overview of the port at unknown sailor monument (I believe in Russian, but I'm not yet far enough to tell difference). I pointed to the signs saying very clearly (in English as well) "No photos". He then seemed to be embarrassed and scuttled away. Somehow I doubt our Russian friends have the same in their strategic areas.
Only the second oddest thing I've seen here compared to this at a child's floating playground

I'll have a pint of whatever this throbber is drinking.
Hmmm, a Dnipro crossing may not be as hat stand as it appears. It seems that the West have provided a far larger number of bridge layers, amphibious vehicles, and pontoon bridges to Ukraine that has been made public.
Also there are apparently upwards of 2k SOF and partisans now embedded in the South ahead of the offensive.

with the level of TLC that's been apparent for the last year, & especially since the 2nd set of mobniks, I think the 4:1 ratio is extraordinarily generous, & I'd actually be surprised if it wasn't more like 2:1. So 33k dead, & 66k wounded

The Yanks as a rule tend to give very conservative assessments for casualties.

Unsurprisingly he was arrested a few hours later and forced to apologise on camera, probably after a threat to rape and murder his mother and sisters.
A fuel depot was on fire early on Wednesday near a crucial bridge linking Russia's mainland with Crimea, a Russian official said, days after Moscow blamed Ukraine for an attack that set fire to an oil depot in Sevastopol.
Flames and black smoke billowed over what appeared to be large tanks emblazoned with red warnings of "Flammable" in videos posted on Russian social media, though Reuters could not independently verify either the fire reports or the videos.
"The fire has been classified as the highest rank of difficulty," Veniamin Kondratyev, the governor of the Krasnodar region lying across the Sea of Azov from Ukraine, said on the Telegram messaging app, adding that there were no casualties.
Kondratyev said the blaze broke out in the village of Volna. The hamlet is close to the Crimean bridge over the Kerch Strait, a major artery for Russian forces, as it links the mainland to the Crimean peninsula that was annexed in 2014 from Ukraine.
The incident came days after a drone strike set ablaze a Russian fuel storage facility in the Crimean port of Sevastopol on Saturday, in what Moscow called a Ukrainian attack.
Ukraine did not claim responsibility for the Sevastopol attack, in line with its standard practice during the conflict, which began in February 2022.
