All fucking day this! Of course we'd have to bring back the notion that hands in a ruck is a penalty offence as well, but I'm all for that too.

Genge has his arm tucked as he flies into the ruck - no matter if he makes contact with his midriff that should be a stone cold yellow. That fact he makes contact with the head, secondary or not, it should be a red.

Furlong does deserve unmerciful slagging for his end of it though - expect better from him.

Well done England - selection made a huge difference! Mitchell at 9 sped the game up and played brilliantly. Lawrence was back to his best, Martin added aggression at 2nd row and giving Feyi-Waboso a roving remit helped add an edge in attack.

Disruption in Irish ranks due to injuries didnt help them but in the end their pack ended up well beaten and that lost them quick ball and their game.

Seems very likely that the officials missed Freeman being in touch and a potential clear out that clipped Furlong high. Very unfortunate for Ireland.

It doesn't show up in the highlights but I thought during the game that Slade was tackled and then placed the ball, he then regathered it and popped it up to a team mate in support - this led up to Earl's try but was too many phases before the actual score to check.

These games are very tight and when you get the rub of the green it can make a big difference.

Yeah, that one was a bit odd

Watched it again this morning. Slade was tackled but not held. He dropped the ball as he landed and the ball rolled backwards momentarily before he grabbed it again and threw it up to another England player. However, the Ref was playing two penalty advantages to England at the time, so even if it had been spotted, it would still have resulted in a penalty to England.

So probably not material to the final result, especially as there was still 20 minutes to go.

It was multiple phases back though and Ireland had actually won the ball back and turned it over again prior to the try being scored. So currently outside the TMO remit.

Comes back to whether we want the TMOs to be checking the scoring move or a couple of minutes back in play for any potential infringement

I like this one though, since the ball literally ends up in Irish hands after Freeman offloads, and they get a controlled box kick exit.

Just went through the match quickly, and the people complaining about the kick by Ireland at the end, trying to claim they shouldn't have kicked, are mad. The only time a team keeps possession through phases for over a minute (, and it was only just a minute, let alone 90 seconds) is the Earl try in the 60th, and that came with the Slade juggle and recover, and was far from clean. Expecting Ireland to try and play for 90 seconds in their own half, with a ref who'd have been all over going off feet, would have been madness. Could have expected Murray to make a few more yards on the clearance though.
