I like the idea, but seems a bit unfair on the team finishing top, i.e. Leinster.mos_eisely_ wrote: ↑Tue Apr 05, 2022 1:19 pm Being reported that the powers that be are strongly looking to move the URC final to South Africa
I'd love to watch an SA team beat Leinster in Port Elizabethassfly wrote: ↑Tue Apr 05, 2022 1:33 pmI like the idea, but seems a bit unfair on the team finishing top, i.e. Leinster.mos_eisely_ wrote: ↑Tue Apr 05, 2022 1:19 pm Being reported that the powers that be are strongly looking to move the URC final to South Africa
Also a fairly slim chance any SA teams will be in the final given our current positions on the log.
If there is a SA team involved, getting those big crowds will be no problem as attested by past Super Rugby finals that were played in SA, even the knockout stages were very well attended. Not sure how good the attendance will be if its 2 European teams in the final. Even though there are decent british and irish communities in SA, they are a bit spread around and not all follow rugby so most likely will not help a lot in filling up a big stadium.Tichtheid wrote: ↑Tue Apr 05, 2022 1:56 pm Going back ten years or more the finals have been attended by forty five thousand or so supporters, or at capacity of the stadium in the case of the Leinster and Ulster grounds.
What are the chances of that kind of crowd in a South African stadium if there isn't a South African team involved?
For me it makes a mockery of heading the tournament. I would feel aggrieved if it were my team.
Someone had a brain fart when waking up. Unless Leinster gets eliminated in the playoffs it should happen up northmos_eisely_ wrote: ↑Tue Apr 05, 2022 1:19 pm Being reported that the powers that be are strongly looking to move the URC final to South Africa

If they think that starting with Willemse at 15 and Herschel at 9 is the solution well I am sure that Jake hopes that they get 60 minutes......
Only thing I can think of is that Gelant is still injured or not 100 percent. Why they would start Herschel at 9 is beyond me. De Wet has been outstanding.
Aimee Barrett-Theron is a woman ref from Cape Town....second woman ref in URC
She is a KZN poes like you. Went to Northlands Girls High in Durban ,played 7 and KZN women before chicken run to the Western Cape.
