No way this game would be going ahead in the Prem with so many positive cases in the squad. Will be interesting to see whether they call it here.
Would not in top 14 either 1-2 cases are enough to get postponment
Yep, which seems prudent. I just can't see it going ahead as it seems such a widespread outbreak. Must be similar to what happened to Fiji in the autumn.
Yes they tried a sanitary bubble however once the covid is in the bubble you're screwed.

You would think there is a bit of pressure behind the scenes from Scottish government as well given both their relatively strict stance and that they have been giving it out to football.

This is shit. I hope all the players are OK and the game goes ahead.
Yeah, same here. It's always my favourite game of the tournament, especially when we can actually attend games.
Has to be called off, surely. Anyone who's been in contact with those five could be infected, which is the whole squad.

France have called five replacements in to the squad to replace the covidees
Gaëtan BARLOT (0 sélection, Castres Olympique), Thierry PAIVA (0 sélection, Union Bordeaux Bègles), Cyril CAZEAUX (0 sélection, Union Bordeaux Bègles), Baptiste PESENTI (2 sélections, Section Paloise) et Thomas RAMOS (14 sélections, Stade Toulousain) sont sélectionnés pour rejoindre le groupe France ce lundi 22 février.
All that is missing from the statement is the "Bof" and the shrug.

Dupont is your biggest loss, best player in the world right now.
TBH, if Couilloud was fit, I'd not be overly concerned with the loss. All sides need to be able to cope with the loss of a key player. But this probably means Serin starts which is as bad as having Youngs.

To be honest the second string was nearly good enough to beat England so this would be competitive however it shows French management up.

This looks like a clusterf**k by the FFR (no surprise there).
The way this reads is the COVID originated in the 7s squad who were not meant to be mixing with the full senior side anyway. You couldn't make this sh*t up.

Serge Simon is a Genius...
A late recall to the squad?
He was Covid manager .
I don't believe he has practiced medecine in a long while and is likely as competent there as he was when performance manager.
Not according to him , this ass.ole got his jab Jan 11.

The game will be postponed until next week, not that I agree with it, France have been very poor with covid protocols, and Should play this week.

Agree. This was self inflicted and I'm guessing a breach of the protocols on mixing. Anyway, the Sweaties (rightly) have refused a pp.

Bringing in the 7s squad????
You couldn't make up the level of incompetence from some people. WTF was France management thinking.

I think the SRU would have been ok with a postponement if it wasn't for the players we rely on who play elsewhere, particularly Hogg.

This. I’m sure we’d all prefer to play a full strength France, but it’s clearly unreasonable to expect Scotland to play without our best players so that France can field theirs.

A quick headcount tells me there are 12 in the current squad who could be recalled to play for their clubs, the definite starters would be Hogg and Gray, but if Hoggy goes then Maitland would be his immediate deputy but he would be subject to recall. If we play Graham at full back without those two we'd be short of wingers. Land and Taylor could be called back and that leaves us short in the centres.
It's a similar mess up front though possibly not quite as bad, Ritchie Gray would come in for his brother, Gilchrist on the bench but he is struggling for form. Bayliss, du Preez, Craig could go, Bhatti going would leave us without last minute injury cover at loosehead

This is entirely on France. Covid bubbles are not new and they ought to know how to stop the spread.

For info the 7's squad was a separate bubble (they were supposed to play in spain last week end).
The leaks point to one of the fitness coaches not the 7's (they just tested positive earlier maybe)
All in all the real stupidity was moving around in alpes maritmes (one of the Covid Hotspots in France) when Marcoussis was a lot safer.
The French 7 ladies went to spain without a glitch out of marcoussis the 15's ladies also were doing a camp in Marcoussis with 0 cases.
Laporte was likely spending FFR Money at one of his mates in the south.
good news in no new cases today

What a shambles... Tough on the Scots too. Through no fault of their own, they face two shit options: keep the momentum and play a weakened French team, potentially putting their entire squad at risk, or play it safe and compromise their best start to a 6N in a good while with a GS still to play for.

Not sure how it puts their squad at any more risk than would have been otherwise. Any players they face will have to have passed exactly the same tests as before.

As if the Scots fans don't have a big enough victim complex already, this will eclipse this year's Lions selections.
So, game goes ahead unless any more cases detected in the France camp. Cynic in me says if I were Galthie now, I'd be looking to get as many more positive tests as I could manufacture....

Why? When your B/C/D team romp to victory it will be a triumph.

F**ked. Not only is Snail Serin starting, looks like he will be captain so, barring injury, is not coming off either.

Err yeah, got confused big time sorry , but imho the scots still have a very decent shot at the title. Obviously they can get bust the french slam at the weekend, and after that the Welsh are thin on points difference and look likely to lose a game.
Anyhow, game is confirmed, we'll find out soon how deep that French squad is (if they manage to stay clear from the plague until then).

And TBH, that's not too shabby bar Serin. Danty has been on better form than Vincent anyway: assuming he can avoid being carded for a change.
Bouthier is a different player to Dulin but I'm okay with that. Dupont is going to be the self-inflicted killer.
Poor France. Lost ten players from their player base of three million registered players and their twenty something full time professional clubs. Here in Scotland with our two pro clubs from a player base 40,000 we are weeping for your misfortune.
