Which game was Henry Paul sub'ed off after about 25mins? He's got a shout for the 12 shirt
As mentioned in my previous post, against Aus in 2004. Probably the worst 20 minutes I've seen from a player in an England shirt
pair him the centres with Luther Burrell, who also got a first half hooking in an AUS game

burgess at 6? or te'o at 12?
not sure Burgess played internationally at 6 (and too lazy to check). Him playing 6 at Bath but centre for England was just another layer of the omnishambles

4 Brian Lochore, vs. the Lions, Wellington, 31 July 1971. Another great loose forward, and former captain, brought out of retirement and played out of position three matches into a four test series.
Pretty sure he only played the last test !
And wasn’t that bad .

It is not his fault that his loyalty to the All Blacks saw him agree to a flawed request but he should not have been forced into playing lock. He was a great No.8, up there with Read and ZInzan. The test vs the Lions was a black mark on a fabulous career and easily his worst performance.

Rod Davies v. Samoa

James Slipper vs Scotland RWC'15. Gave away penalties in scrum and threw sn intercept. He was equally shit vs Argies the week later.

Bruce Cooke vs Ireland in 1979, IIRC.
He was awful.

Never mind, one of the worst refereeing decisions I've ever seen rescued that one.
Other thing is, Slipper was scrumming down against Dickinson and Nel who were absolutely superb scrummagers. Could understand if he was against a more mobile, loose prop but scrummaging was probably the strongest part of their respective games.

The Argies were deliberately knocking on the ball to get a scrum thus scrum penalty vs Slipper in the semis.

Was Jamie Mackintosh not at one stage seen as a long term Kiwi captain?
I think he had captained age group, but only ever talked of for potential down the line due to that.
He was very much a case of a massive kid who didn’t have to learn all the technique to get by. Still a good captain for Southland, won the shield, and a good bloke.
His biggest error was hiding turf toe in the week leading up to his first cap and getting demolished by Murray.

Wasn't Barnes wanking off over Monye's performances in the HEC?
Probably - he only played 15 a bit and was in great attacking form.
Those were weird days. I was going to say "thankfully we're past that sort of thing now" but then I remembered Daly at fullback

Jonah Lomu's debut was a shocker.
IIRC that was also Mannix’s only test.
I don't think so? I think Mannix came in right after Fox left? Before Lomu's time, surely.
EDIT: Wikipedia tells me you're right. I've definitely misremembered that.
Mannix wasn't particularly good in the tour matches on the 1990 France tour. I remember him struggling in the tour opener against Cote D'Azur, which the ABs lost.
How about Frances Saili for 12? He had a bit of a shocker early doors in his debut against Argentina in 2013.
