Jim Hamilton is quietly turning himself into an excellkent rugby journalist. His walking interview with ROG was amazing, this is even better. A real talent for asking tough personal questions in the friendliest way possible.

No he’s a highly reputable journalist who we should all take at his word, and that is visibly Paris in the background. I have no doubt at all that this is genuine and represents an attempt to fix the match.Deveron Boy wrote: Wed Oct 04, 2023 11:47 am apart from the fact they appear to be dressed for polar expedition and its currently 20 degrees in Paris?

So actors Oded Fehr & Jason Statham had lunch in Paris today. What does that have to with us?
You have already declared that you want Scotland to win and send the Boks out of the tournament.

The amount of crying and whining about how unfair the draw is has been pathetic.
Easy for you to say playing tier 2 nations like Fiji, Georgia and Australia.C69 wrote: Thu Oct 05, 2023 7:11 am I really hope Ireland put a cricket score on the Jocks.

Yeah, and form also says Scotland would beat everyone in the other half of the draw!Tichtheid wrote: Thu Oct 05, 2023 7:33 amC69 wrote: Thu Oct 05, 2023 7:11 am I really hope Ireland put a cricket score on the Jocks.

I'm not sure that is in any way a reflection of what has been going on.
There is an acknowledgment that the draw made mid December 2020 for a tournament played almost three full years later has left a lopsided tournament, a two tier tournament if you like. It is what it is and we just get on with it.
There is no hiding from the fact that the top five sides in the world are in pools A & B. The top seed in pool C is ranked 7th and the second is ranked 10th. The respective rankings in pool D are 6th and 12th.
Form says that Ireland should beat Scotland handily, Scotland winning would be one of the biggest upsets in the history of the tournament, still there is always the glimmer of hope before the match starts, I can see how we can do it, we just have to be better than them up front - easier said than done.
I think England surprised everyone with their brilliant performance against the ABs at the last World Cup, I can't see it happening again this time against whoever they (probably) meet in the semis.Biffer wrote: Thu Oct 05, 2023 7:37 amYeah, and form also says Scotland would beat everyone in the other half of the draw!Tichtheid wrote: Thu Oct 05, 2023 7:33 amC69 wrote: Thu Oct 05, 2023 7:11 am I really hope Ireland put a cricket score on the Jocks.

Never mind, we'll just have to satisfy ourselves with another year of fucking the Welsh regions up in the URC and also giving them a whipping in the 6Ns.

My latest dream last night was Ireland not turning up and being distracted by the QF's and us racing into a 24-0 half time lead (3 converted trys and Finn knocking over 3 in the last play of the half). Sadly, they regrouped at half time and it was an agonising watch as they pulled it back and we eventually won in a heart breaking 24-23.Gumboot wrote: Thu Oct 05, 2023 7:44 am A Scotland win is unlikely, but it wouldn't be a huge upset imo. South Africa would have beaten them with a kicker. They are not invincible.Tichtheid wrote: Thu Oct 05, 2023 7:50 amGumboot wrote: Thu Oct 05, 2023 7:44 am A Scotland win is unlikely, but it wouldn't be a huge upset imo. Seriously, Ireland are one of if not THE most professional teams around, there is no way they are slipping their form for Saturday. Their whole game revolves around being exceedingly well-drilled and everyone knowing what they are doing, making the right decisions and executing their tasks well. It would have to be a catastrophic failure of their systems for them to be sub-par, the best bet against them is to have a pack like La Rochelle have, it could be argued that South Africa have that but they still didn't manage it.
To beat them you have to get them on the back foot, getting in behind them before they can organise their line and you have to get your set piece operating at over 90%. They are a terrific side, you know what's coming with them, it's doing something about it is the difficult part.

I'd start Horne too but likewise can't argue White should be above Price. Crosbie over Watson is a big call.TheNatalShark wrote: Thu Oct 05, 2023 2:09 pm So no White indeed. I'm still not convinced Price warrants the start, but don't think I have it in me to complain given White not hit prior levels.
Would have loved Horne to start
I suppose our lineout has been a shambles vs Ireland over the years and Crosbie is another lineout option for later in the game maybe?Jock42 wrote: Thu Oct 05, 2023 3:11 pmI'd start Horne too but likewise can't argue White should be above Price.
